Agggghhhhhhhhhhhhh help!!!! Major carb craving going on!! I suffer from seasonal affective dissorder and one of the symptons is carb cravings and I am getting them really, really, really, really bad!! I even had to go out and get a mcdonalds kids meal for lunch today which I feel so ashamed for caving in to my craving!! Any ideas on what can help with these monstrous cravings????

I feel for you. I have always heard that if you crave something there may be something in it your body needs. Not sure if that's true but maybe ask your doctor just in case. I guess you could either do what you are doing which I think is smart and have just a small controlled amount of carbs, or try chewing gum or keeping sugar free hard candy in your mouth at all times. That really helps me. Drinking lots of water helps too. At least find the healthiest carbs you can if you do have a little. That's about all I can think of. I am sure others will have more and better ideas. I definitely know how bad it gets. There is nothing worse than craving carbs.. Good luck! :)

I've been eating a low carb diet (50-75g/day) and my cravings have really diminished. I haven't had pasta, bread, rice, potato, corn, cereal, etc for over a month and I feel so much better. Oddly enough, when I crave carbs, I eat eggs. Even a hard boiled egg curbs my craving. Give it a try.

I stopped eating grains, and no longer crave them. Ever. And I was, not so long ago, the biggest carb-addict who has ever lived.

Just read this article which puts it into very understandable terms: http://fitbie.msn.com/eat-right/tips/8-reasons-wheat-making-you-gain/tip/0

Thank you I will try the advice you have given!! It is sometimes a bit harder to curb the cravings when you have S.A.D but I will give it a go
