Everyone I know right now is trying to sell me Body By Vi Shakes, I keep turning them down saying I'd like to just eat healthy (real food) and do it on my own. I think that in the long run this would be best as I am learning to eat properly for life and not just doing a program for 90 days or whatever it may be. But they are starting to make me wonder....should I be doing this on my own or should I try a program and then try to keep the weight off?? I've got about 10lbs to lose, maybe more depending on how I look and feel once I hit that 10lb loss... (5"8, 157lbs) I'm not looking for a sales pitch either, just honest people with honest advice please!! :) Thanks everyone!!! :)

Are the people approaching you have anything to gain by you using the product (i.e. are they selling it)? You have to do what feels right for you. It sounds like you're fine w/out the product.
  • I'd say if you don't want to do body by vi, then don't. You don't have to "do what everyone else is doing," do what works for you. I drink a different shake every day (not body by vi brand) and i love it cause it's quick and I'm often in a hurry.

But at the end of the day, you shouldn't have to do anything you're not comfortable with or simply don't want to do. I've heard that Body by Vi people can be pushy (no offense to anyone who sells/uses it), but don't let it bother you. Clean eating is always a great idea, whether you're supplementing it with a shake or not.

I could see having some shakes or bars on hand if you're on a completely hectic schedule for emergencies, but programs are expensive. Isn't the whole idea learning to have a healthy lifestyle not just be on a diet?

Stick to real food, imo. Replacement shakes are unnecessary. The only shake I drink during the day is a whey protein recovery shake, and that's not a meal replacement, I drink it as my drink with lunch.

I have friends who are using the shakes and it's working for them, so it is tempting - definitely understand why you are wondering about it.

My concern is that once the weight is lost, it would be too easy to go back to old habits and gain the weight back. I would like to try and learn to eat in a manner that will keep me at a healthy weight and I'm not sure weight loss shakes are the way to meet that goal.

I use regular protein powder shake... I did try the body by vi stuff... but it not really impact me though... I also have a VERY stubborn body! .....The body by vi has less protein per calories then the stuff I get at walmart...that being said, I DO know a ton of people it HAS worked for....I think it jsut depends on how quickly you are looking to lose... the 2 can be incorporated together... if you eat the 5-6 smaller healthy meals a day and chose to do the body by vi, you could make 1 or 2 of those the shakes, or do like i do and use the whey protein @ walmart... The body by vi stuff DID taste like they say like cake batter or what have you...I was good mixed in yougurt etc.... but so is the vanilla protein powder..... i will mostly use the protein powder drink after weight training workouts or for my last meal if I am lazy and or/need the protein without higher fat content at that point etc....

Protein powder, whether the body by vi, or other brands is a good supplimental protein source...I add it to my coffee sometimes instead of flavored creamer... in my oatmeal..and it's actually very good mixed with hot water and a bit of that crystal light pure... it kinda tastes like a fruity chai tea that way!!! ;)

This is exactly my thoughts!! :)

To answer someone above, yes the body by vi is kind of like a pyramid thing - not that the stuff isn't yummi (it is) and may assist you in weight loss (I have friends' it has helped), but the people trying to get you to do it have something to gain. If they get 3 people a month to do it they get theirs free (or at least one level of the product) and then it 'pyramids' from there (to making cash)

It tastes good and is low cal, but I don't do it because of price (first) and next because I have changed my entire life, forever, and am not going back. I don't think I want to afford (if i could) body by vi forever.

I hate being sold things I dont need or want, but a friend have mine has been pushing HerbaLife and Ive been thinking the same. I have 8-10lbs I want to lose and I have pretty good eating and exercise habits already, but Im wondering if this will give me the push that I need to get that baby weight Ive been carrying for 2.5 years off! I dont wanna use it as a complete meal replacement but as mainly as a pre or post workout supplement. I have never heard of Body by Vi. Ill have to google it.

I know a few people who tried it and loved it becasue they lost weight, but when they stopped they gained it back. Based on cost alone i would say no, also when you learn to do this on your own without relying on these short term methods, you are set for life!

Keep uo the great work and the results will come :)

Hate to say it (for those people that gained back the weight), but this is exactly what I wanted to hear...when people stop the program if they gain, or maintain or continue to lose... :) Thanks!! :)

If you know anything about MLM's, they are just trying to get you to join so they can make more money. For those that say they don't, they don't want to feel they were the only suckers. Most products that any MLM sells is very middle/low to the road compared to other products out there for a lower price. It's outrageously expensive because so many "middle" people make a profit of your purchase. Don't by a product to supplant so many peoples extra income.
You can find many supplements out there that compare with less cost and not be scammed into joining an MLM.

I just completed my second week of the 90 Day Challenge and have seen some awesome results, 8 pounds in two weeks. So far this has made me be more disciplined and I have finally been able to incorporate multiple meals and snacks into my schedule. It has also helped me get more focused on getting their recommended 20-30 minutes of exercise a day. Feel free to message me.

My friends' older brother sells it so they always have a bag around and the girls used it after workouts (they were doing Insanity) so they'd throw some fruit in there as well.

Personally, if I had the money I'd buy a bag just to add to smoothies sometimes for after workouts or those days when I really don't feel like eating but know I have to. Or when I'm in a hurry and don't get the chance to eat. I don't like using replacement shakes every day just because I have to to lose weight. For me it's only for convenience (if I don't have time to eat or don't feel like it). I used to do that when I was younger. I would take a shake to school or else I wouldn't eat anything at all for half the day because I didn't feel like eating.
