I just had my breast augmentation 4 days ago and the day of surgery, when I went in, I was 102lbs. I weighed myself today and Im 110lbs, I havent had a bowel movement since Thursday thanks to the pain pills and Im having lots of water retention thanks to the IV fluids. LOL. I havent even had an appetite so I have not eaten much.. so its not the food.

Needless to say, Im ready to get rid of all this puffiness and get back to being toned and hard. Im thinking of doing a post surgery cleanse starting tomorrow to flush my system and get me regular again.

Anyone else have any experiences like this post surgery?? Im thinking of buying some Colace and water pills.. Any suggestions?

  • I gained 20 pounds after my back surgery last March. I'm still trying to get it off -- plus the 15 I gained while trying decide if I should have back surgery.
  • I had surgery about two weeks ago and was very swollen afterwards. I couldn't wear my jeans for the two weeks. I found that eating raisin bran everyday helped with the bowel movement problems. I gained about five pounds but they came off pretty fast.

I just had my varicose veins stripped and between stopping the water pill I was on because of having the varicose veins and the limitations post-surgery, I regained 7 lbs.. I've finally stabilized and am at least walking again. I have one more round to go tomorrow and I can't wait until my legs quit hurting so I can run again!

I gained 10lbs when I had ear surgery but it was mostly water weight from the IV fluids as my hands and feet were so swollen, LOL.

I say no to the cleanse and water pills, for various reasons. Let your body heal itself. I experienced ridiculous water retention with both of my pregnancies (C-section deliveries). I was told to drink MORE water, and that alone was the suggestion. You will also find that as you move into controlling pain with over the counter meds, that will help with constipation. You should also consult the surgeon, or whomever you are to follow up with. But please do not resort to drastic measures - you are recovering from surgery for pete's sake.

You willingly subjected yourself to major surgery and 4 days after it you're worrying about a perceived weight gain...sigh. :noway:

I would not be concerning myself with weight, flushes, or anything else. I would be concentrating on recovering...period. When fully recovered you can do whatever you feel you need to do.

excuse me, Im not worried about my weight gain if it were legit. but its from being "backed up" and im worried as to how being backed up is going to affect my digestive track and everything else. thankyou.
