Ok so this year I have felt mostly rubbish and have eaten myself back to the weight I don't want to be. As of this week have decided I need to get back into shape for my wedding at the end of March next year. I am 165lb at the moment and would ideally like to be 145lb. I am aiming to do 3 hour long fitness classes a week (sometimes will only manage 2) and keep within my calories as religiously as possible.

Just wanted some truthful responses to the question have I left it too late? 5 months to lose 20lbs with Xmas in between?? I could kick myself for not starting earlier but it alwasy felt so far away!!!

Its not unreasonable...I do believe you can lose 20 lbs in 5 months for sure...but you will have to work hard (no excuses), eat really good, and you definitely can't let the holidays trip you up!

Start working on the "no thanks" response right now, because that's going to have to be your motto this holiday season!

Anything is possible if you want it badly enough. That's 4lbs a month so 1lb a week consistently. What do you want more.. to enjoy food at christmas or to look good in your wedding dress? find a picture of your dress (or one like it) and put it in prominent places to remind you why you're doing this. Remember nothing tastes as good as skinny (in your wedding pictures) feels!! Yes, you can do this!

I'm in the same position - and NO you have not left it too late. Don't worry about the weight target, and concentrate on inches and whatever happens you can make improvements in the bits you don't like.

Don't forget to factor in your dress fittings (if you are having a traditional wedding dress that is). For me, even though my wedding is in Feb the first fitting is in November, so thats my target for as much weight loss as i can, and toning after that.

    Good luck!

Definitely not! I lost 21 lbs in 5 months without ever being hungry and I'm old with a slowing metabolism. You can do it easily if you want to. Just keep exercising!
  • Thanks guys! Feeling a lot more positive....long may it continue! :)
