You know, you sit here and try to live your life as best you can. Try to do what is right for your family, health and well being. And then you here the news.

"4 Mentally challenged adults were found In Northeast Philadelphia, chained in a dungeon like basement, beaten and starved so 3 people could steal their Social Security checks". They are looking for more victims from Florida to Philadelphia.

What the hell am I doing this for. To live among these dregs a day longer than I have too?
I'm sitting here worring about eating a fuc----g cookie and this world is going to sh-t.
I'm sorry but it's everywhere you turn. I just can't take this world sometimes. :explode:  :noway: :grumble: :ohwell:

Stopped watching the news seven years ago. It made a huge difference in how I view the world.

Man's inhumanity to Man (and woman, you know)...it never ceases to amaze me.

There are more good people in the world than bad. But we all have both in us.

    Take care. :flowerforyou:

That's just crazy. I really miss living in the states sometimes, but the violence is getting way out out hand. People are just going crazy these days.

I live out in the sticks so can`t really relate but as savage and monstrous some "people" can be there are still dozens of decent ones for every evil one.

Look no farther then here and the real life friends a person can make, sure not everyone is going to click but if you need reaffirmation of the fact there are good people just look around this little place.

I read that story first thing this morning and it just made me sick. Worse, since the victims were receiving disability checks that were being stolen all along, it appears the authorities never did really LOOK for them when they were reported missing. One case had been "closed" though he'd never been found - and all they had to do to find them was check on where those disability checks were being cashed. So the inhumanity wasn't just on the part of the kidnappers, but also on those we're paying to serve and protect. :(

    Another reason to ask WHY?

Things like that make the news because they're so uncommon. For every one person that does a horrible thing, there are SO MANY other people that are just awesome, and do you really think they get any kind of air time?

Good news doesn't sell. All this stuff was going on in the 30's 40's 50's 60's, but since word was usually kept locally, nobody thought the world was that bad. I'd be more worried on what's happening in your area than somewhere where you don't live.

I heard abt this story too. Being I have a disabled teen & already worried about how his life wd or cd be if I were to die, then this story comes along.
These cruel, greedy, assanine people were put in a position of trust only to "use" the lives of innocent trusting handicapped/mentally ill "adults/children to live off of through government funds.
    This makes my blood boil.
I don't wish harm to anyone, as I believe vengence is God's, but instead I'm going to pray God gives those "vermon" the chance they failed to give to those poor innocent beautiful human being's they shackled & put behind a small locked boiler room. ~Dee

It does suck, but where else are you going to go? Maybe stop watching the news if its dragging you down this way. Other than this planet, there is no where else to run to. :flowerforyou:

Thing is, niceties doesn't sell papers or flock in the viewers like bad news does.

    A great place.

Sometimes i too despair, but then i see something that restores my faith in humankind. I remember in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, seeing that hundreds of people were flying out there, purely volunteers, to help gather the abandoned pets and find their owners. Something like that is just beyond words tbh :D
