walking shoes help

I can only walk for about 45 minutes before the arches of my feet start to hurt. Funny thing is if i wear Converse instead of Nikes my feet hurt less but i don't want to thrash my everyday shoes. I'm curious if anyone else has this problem and what shoes help with it? I'm worried that its just my weight and not the shoes because i used to work in a restaurant and was on my feet for 10 hours at a time and my feet don't feel like this. Any suggestions would help, thanks.

Everyone will have their own favorite shoes that work for them. For me, I recommend New Balance shoes. I went into the actual store instead of a purchasing it online and they were able to give me the exact size insoles for my arches, size of shoe and width needed, and they also laced them up a certain way to fit my ankles which are a bit narrow. These shoes with the special insoles are a dream for me. I can wear them all day and i never feel any pain in the back or feet. At first I was a bit taken back by the cost, but it was well worth it and I haven't bought a new pair in 5 years now.0

That was how mine were until I got new shoes on Sunday. They are those special shoes that supposedly shape your thighs etc....but they have the most amazing support and are more comfortable on my feet and knees than any I've ever had. They are ryka reform shoes....normally 100 bucks but I got them on sale at Big 5 for 25 dollars.0

For me it is the spira brand. They have springs in them and last longer than any other shoe I have worn in the past. You can buy them online at www.footsmart.com. You might be walking incorrectly and that could be the cause of your discomfort. The place I just mentioned has allot of insoles you can get depending on your issues. If you have a new pair of shoes that you like you might look at what they have, maybe save some bank.
Hope this helps.

I don't have any problems with my walking shoes (Nike Air) and I also have a pair of those weird shaped ones that work the legs and butt - don't wear them too often and not for the treadmill anyways. Have you tried insoles?0
