I've seen recipes using a pita and topping with some tomato sauce and whatever toppings you like. You can control the ingredients and how much cheese you put on it. You could use a whole-wheat pita for extra health benefits.0
-
YES!
Take some pita bread (whole wheat if possible). Top with marinara sauce of your choice. Top with all your favorite veggies and sprinkle the top with mozarella or shredded colby jack cheese. Bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and pita is crispy.
Enjoy!
Depending on the ingredients, this can be very light or a little heavier.0 -
Yes, I agree with what everyone has said....totally delicious, and totally satisfies craving0
-
i like to use the plain bagel thins.....or for a while I was hooked on using these wraps, sorry I cant remember what theyre called..... id get out my sand maker and put the stuff on the wrap, fold it in half n put it in the sand maker for a few mins to cook... yummy!! i just used sauce, cheese, and veggies.0

I make a low cal pizza using a low carb wheat tortilla. I cook the tortilla in the oven on broil or in the toaster oven first to get it crispy then I add toppings with very little cheese. I make a veggie with bell peppers, onion and mushrooms.0

Well, if you live near one, pizza my heart pizzas are actually not THAT bad... The plain cheese one has 350 cals per slice with 15g of fat.
If not.. I used to make a "tomato tart" with trader joe's whole wheat pizza dough, topped with marinara sauce, mushroom, tomato slices and thin layer of mozzarella cheese. Wasn't too bad, and very healthy.0 -
This is what i had for lunch today...
Arnold Artisan Oven Flatbread - savory herb 140 cal
Turkey Pepperoni - 8 slices 35 cal
Pizza Sauce - 1/8 cup 15 cal
Kraft Fat Free Mozzerella - 1/8 cup 23 cal
213 per pizza and it's yummy!0 -
Just order a pizza tomorrow. Enjoy it. Get back to work immediately afterwards.0

Nope, when I want pizza, I want the real thing! So I have it, just way less slices than before and the craving passes. I am down to like once every other month or so......andpizza my favorite was at least a weekly thing.0

There's one over at skinnytaste.com. I use that one. Although, I use naan bread instead of the one she lists because I can't find that one at my grocery store.0
-
Wow! All of these recipes sound amazing. I will for sure be going grocery shopping for this stuff tomorrow0

I have had whole wheat pita pizza's and I have to tell you they can be utterly delicious. If you pair them up with some veggie sides too and some water you can be full (and satisfy your tomato-cheese craving) in no time.
Yum0 -
1 cup "riced" cauliflower - chopped small like rice in food processor, then microwave for 4 minutes-do NOT add water
1cup shredded mozzarella
1 egg
Mix and shape onto pizza stone and bake at 450 for 10-15 minutes
i have not tried this recipe but she said it was good.. this is for the crust. then you add your toppings.0 -
sometimes I will toast a piece of wholemeal bread, put a small amount of pizza sauce, slice of shaved ham, some onion, capsicum and other low fat veggie toppings and 25g of low fat cheese and place it under the grill until the cheese is melted.
Works for my pizza cravings0 -
oh then im sure you bake it again. take a guess im not sure sorry lol0

Papa Murphy's Take & Bake has a Delite pizza that is DELICIOUS. If you have one around, have a couple pieces of that. Otherwise, I recommend just eating a couple slices and moving on. Sometimes you just have to eat.0

oh then im sure you bake it again. take a guess im not sure sorry lol

meatza. Make a pizza "crust" by patting ground beef or ground turkey sausage into a pizza pan. Broil until brown and crispy. Take out and put pizza sauce, cheese, and veggies on top. Stick back under the broiler to brown the cheese. Let sit in pan for a few minutes after removing from oven. Slice into wedges, and enjoy with MGD 64.0

you're probably going for the flavor. Use some suggestions listed above, but load on the garlic, oregano, and some hot pepper flakes. also onions and 'shrooms; if you MUST have pepperoni, dice it up really fine and sprinkle over like a "condiment", not heavily layered. I love pepperoni0

breakfast pizza:
1/2 cup egg white mixed with baby spinach leaves
(cook as you would a pancake or crepe)
add turkey pepperoni, LF cheese and any other topping of choice. Microwave until cheese is melted.0 -
This isn't much of a "recipe" but I'll share it regardless. I LOVE pizza but if I want pizza, I'm eating pizza and not some substitute that isn't pizza.
That being said, since I'm cutting right now I'm watching calorie intake, and when I saw the calorie total of most pizzas in restaurants I decided to make my own:
Betty Crocker - Pizza Crust Mix, 1 container (1 crust ea.) 640 132 8 16
Muir Glen Organic - Pizza Sauce, 1/2 Cup 90 12 4 2
Market Pantry - Low Moisture Part-Skim Mozzarella, 1 container (8 oz ea.) 640 8 48 64
Sam's Club (Member's Mark) - Shrimp Medium Cooked (No Tails), 7.8 oz.
Total calories and macros: 1578kcal 152c 60f 129p My wife is satisfied with two slices of this. I eat a whole one.
Two slices would be roughly: 394kcal 38c 15f 32p

You can use fat free or reduced fat cheese too! AND they make whole wheat pizza crusts you can buy too, if you don't want the pita..... Also, another good option is to use half of one of those sandwich thins...
Or if you really want a piece of pizza, you can splurge once in a while and have one. Get in a good work out that day so you don't feel guilty about it!0 -
ME ME ME ME!!!! I came up with a fantastic one! The kids LOVE it, and even the husband is happy.
Make a dozen mini pizzas:
Orowheat - Sandwich Thins Mini's 100% Whole Wheat, 6 rolls
Low Fat Mozzarella or Mozz & Parmesan Shredded Cheese, 1 cup
Ragu - Pizza Sauce Homemade Style,6 tbsp
Jimmy Dean - Reduced Fat Pork Sausage, 2 oz cooked (1/5 of a tube)
bake for 17 minutes at 375. 75 calories each. It's a weekly meal in the house now.0 -
Polenta can be used as a base!0
-
My wife makes a basic pizza dough, brushes on some olive oil, adds some sauce and lays on thin slices of mozzarella.
I don't know the nutritional value, but its not bad.
The trick with pizza is to stay away from ingredients like sausage or excess oil. The pizza alone is a balanced meal.0 -
If I want pizza (or my husband wants pizza and I need to eat) I've been getting the Donato's NoDough pizza. It's pretty good, but it has no crust, which cuts down on the calories. The sodium is still a bit high though, so I compensate by drinking extra water that day. I also have tried the DiGiorno's 200 calorie pizza - not bad, but again, more sodium. But, it does the trick in a pinch.0
-
if you are not opposed to frozen pizza I really enjoy the mccain ultra thin crust pollo pizza. there are a few different flavors but pollo is my fave - chicken , red peppers and onions with a bit of mozzerella. only 150 calories per 1/4 pizza. and it's soooooo good!0
-
This thread delivers... Pizza is what I miss the MOST.....thanks!0
