Hi all,

I've read lots of posts saying about how supportive friends and boyfriends are.....but what about those that dont have another half?

I'm looking for friends to help me stay motivated on this journey......

i'm 38, single and now a UK size 16 (was an 18) looking to lose another 20lbs (40lbs total) with my goal being a comfortable size 14.

I'm halfway through my journey...... I don't want to be skinny as its too hard to maintain and just doesnt suit me.

Does anyone have a similar story and would like to join me as a friend?

  • Hi Dawnie,

I'm 21 and I'm also UK based (originially from London, currently living in Bath). I've recently become single (3 months ago) and I actually find I'm a lot more motivated without my ex, he was always telling me not to lose weight and that he liked me as I was, which was very sweet but also frustrating as I put on 30lbs in the 2 and a half years I was with him, which he refused to believe!

So far I've only lost 5lbs but because I've been seeing a PT who has got me doing a lot of strength training I think I'm turning fat into muscle, I started out as a UK14 on top and a UK16 on the bottom but I'm now a UK10-12 on top and a UK14 on the bottom and I've lost 2 inches from my waist, so it's definitely working! I'm looking to lose the 30lbs (so 25lbs to go) initially and then I think I'll see how I feel when I get to that point.

I know what you mean about not wanting to be skinny, my PT keeps telling me I'll be a size 8 in no time but I don't want to get that small! I'm naturally curvy and that's never going to change, I like having boobs and a bum!

I'll send a friend request your way :)

Sounds like you are doing really well .......

Friends and boyfirends can also be sabatours as they will say that you dont want to lose any more and that you are fine. I have learned that most of these are usually worried about you leaving and finding someone else when you are skinny and friends can be jealous.

So I guess it can be easier to be single and lose weight.

I guess we will find out x
