Hello all. I have been struggling with my diet. I have been UNDER my calories (1200) almost every day. I know this is an issue for metabolism (which I already have problems with) I need help with finding foods that are low in fat/carbs but higher in calories. Apples shoot me way over my carbs and things like carrots and celery still don't help meet my goals by much :(.

  • I have that problem too.. I can't get to my calorie goal with out going over my carbs (I"m at 40-30-30 for nutrients).. and my protien is always behind! What should I do? Eat just slabs of cooked chicken? Gross lol. I try to add one table spoon of peanut butter to my oat meal in the morning to help.... and I think I'm going to buy some low carb protien powder and drink shakes!

Hmmm I'm under calorie too. So far helpful stuff for building up protein (my favorites anyways)

    Greek yogurt
    Eggs
    Chicken
and the expensive but oh so good protein shakes at the gym. (One scoop of the whey protein is about 25 protein.)
  • yes.. I'm going to have a protien shake today.. and I will almost meet my goal today! But I did go over on my carbs :( and still 50 calories under my goal though

Just by default, if you're aiming low fat, low carb, you pretty much have to resort to protein. Lean sources of protein are usually not very calorie dense since generally, fat content ramps up the calories (compare calorie content of a fatty cut of steak to a lean piece of chicken, for example).

Not trying to start an arguement but do you have a medical condition that is making you eat low fat?
