Hi everyone, I am both amazed & very impressed by this site ! I was skeptical at first as I just don't have any faith in web sites. BUT,,, This one certainly DOES WORK !! It has been 2 weeks since I first joined & I went to the family Dr. for a follow up on some blood work. They had me get on the scale there & I was up to 212 lbs. I knew I had gained quite a bit but I also knew it was way to much. I am handicapped as of a year ago with an unknown illness of some sort. Putting it bluntly. The Drs. have no clue as to why. OK, that is NOT why I am writing this. I had to go to my Neurologist for a check up & I asked the nurse if she could put me on the scale there. She agreed to after I was done seeing my Dr. Soooooo, he went through his routine with me & said see him in March. Then we hit the scale. I just wanted to see where I was. I was astounded at what she told me I was down to 204 !! I even asked her if she was sure !! I lost 8 lbs. in 2 weeks !!! Just by doing my exercises & keeping track of calories !! I was so surprised !! I am going to continue to keep doing this as I want to get back into my 34's. I am now buying size 38 jeans !! Just wanted to say THANK YOU MFP !!!! & also wanted to say THANK YOU to those who arefriends with me & for their support !! WOW !! I am pleasantly surprised !!

first, congrats to you on your success and I wish you continued success.
What I am about to say by no means is intended to dampen your spirits. I say what I'm about to say so that you get a more accurate picture of your weight loss as you continue your journey. It sounds like you had your weight taken on two different scales at two different times of the day (or, at a minimum, not first thing in the morning). Please keep in mind that scales are not universally consistent. Additionally, our own weight varies throughout the day based on a number of factors.
The most consistent reading is one that you take on the same scale every time first thing in the morning (after using the bathroom and before eating/drinking anything). While your scale might be a little off from one or both doctors' scales (and from your friend's scale)...so long as you are using the same scale each weigh-in and weighing in at the same time in the same manner, you get a better read on your progress.0 -
