Sick and taking steroids

So i've been sick, and today was the first day i've been to the gym in a week. I've been under my calories every day by a couple hundred, but i've been on steroids for a week. I've gained 3 pounds! Do you think that it'll go away as soon as i get back on track? so frustrating, as if being sick isn't bad enough. I just don't get it, I mean I haven't been eating that much, never over and it's been a week

if you have been on steroids then the 3 lbs. that you have gained is probably more muscle then fat, hence muscle weighs more than fat and steroids help to produce larger muscles.0

probably just water weight?
if you haven't eaten over, you haven't gained any real weight.
and I'm assuming you mean corticosteroids?
"steroids" usually conjures up the thought of anabolic steroids used to bodybuilding. especially on a fitness site.0 -

Corticosteroids are notorious for causing people to gain weight. Talk to your doctor about it. He/she may be able to switch your dosage or help you find ways around this nasty side effect.0 -
It is probably water weight and the steroids. They will cause fluid retention and weight gain.
It takes 3200 to 3500 calories above what you burn in a day to gain a pound.
I'm sure once you stop, you will be back on track. No worries.0 -

they both weight the same.
muscle is more dense than fat.

my sister was once put on a type of steroids for her back pain she went from a size 0 to a size 6! Within a year. She developed hips and boobs. That didn't last long she became an exercise freak and lost it all off within a year and then some. She got so small she looked sick!!! Her ribs even stuck out!
It'll most likely be muscle as long as you continue to work out. But if you don't like she didn't then you may gain some fat...0 -

ive told my doctor i dont want to take these steroids. I'm on my 8th (yes 8th) chest infection this year and so far have been able to avoid the steroids. Flu jab next week so that will knock me for sixty, but i will not take the steroids no matter how bad i get.0 -

lmao I was thinking that too, I'm on a drug called entocorte which is a cortocosteroid and i haven't gained any weight because of the meds and i've been on them for a month and a half. I hope that it evens out for you!0 -
Steroids don't make you gain weight for no reason, they make you hungry. If you stick to your calories, you can still make it through, but it will be hard. I had to take prednisone for 6 months, and I felt starving all the time while just maintaining my weight.
I took it before bed, so that the worst hunger was when I was asleep.
Plus the sick thing could be throwing your body off.0 -
I was on prendisone for my asthma. I wasn't overly hungry on them - but I did gain weight. When I asked the pharmacist about it - she told me that they cause you to retain water and can make you want to eat more. Each person is different. I felt so horrible from the asthma attacks - that food wasn't a big deal to me. I did however notice a significant amount of water retention. Within a week of going off the steroid, I was back down to my normal weight.0

I was on prednisone in March after a massive lung infection had me in the hospital for 4 days. I didn't eat much for a week (less than 700 calories per day), had no appetite, slept almost 18 hours per day, and gained almost 6 lbs in water weight. It also turned me into a raving biotch. It all came off as soon as I quit taking the prednisone and got back to eating regularly.0 -
