Jillian Michaels DVDs

I'm kind of re-finding MFP after about an almost 3 months hiatus in which I've gone off-topic somewhat, and put back on about six of the nine odd pounds I lost. I'm trying to get back onto it but it's been difficult. My moods have been pretty bad recently and I've been under a lot of pressure at work, but enough with the excuses.
I hear a lot of good stuff about Jillian Michaels and I was thinking of giving her 6 Pack in 6 Weeks DVD a go and maybe doing the 30 Day Shred.
What are your thoughts on these DVDs?
Can you recommend others?
How many times should I do this a week?
What weights do I need for this?
All advice really appreciated!

I loved them when I started out but they quickly became boring and not challenging enough. Now I swear by Bob Harper's Inside out method. I really noticed results and a physical change in my body with his workouts. Fair warning though, it's no Jane Fonda workout, his stuff is pretty intense. Good luck getting back on track, I'm having to do the same thing.0

I love the Jillian Michael's DVD series. They are extremely challenging but they deliver results!
I have tried the following DVD's and LOVE them:
Banish fat Boost Metabolism- this one is a cardio blast incorporating kick-boxing, calisthenics & HELLISH plyometrics. It tones while you burn mega calories. It melts fat off of your body!!
No More Trouble Zones- delivers major toning using weights and your own body weight. Since it is circuit training it also burns calories. Love it!
30-day shred- this one is great for when you are in a rush, or if you are just beginning with intense exercise because each segment is only 20 mins. Targets entire body and incorporates cardio to keep the heart rate up. Good ab moves also.
Another video series you should check out is the Jackie Warner series. I HIGHLY recommend her 30 minute Timesaver Training video... it is UNREAL the results it delivers. Suuuuper hard but totally worth doing if you want results
I can honestly say that I rely on workout DVD's entirely to keep myself in shape. Take a look at my pics if you would like to see the kind of results these videos can get you. I can honestly say that I am in awesome shape BECAUSE of these DVD's
GOOD LUCK!!!0 -
Wow, sounds like we've been going thru some similar things (work has been kicking my butt). I just got back on MFP last week and am trying to get back on track. I'm doing Ripped in 30 right now (week 1). I bought Killer Buns and Thighs, but thought i was going to die the first time i tried it, som i'm gonna stick with ripped right now. I'm doing it 5 days a week, and also walking when the weather cooperates. I'm using 2lb weights, so i would say 2-5lb weights depending on where you are starting out. I'm really just a beginner myself, but I hope this helps. Good Luck!!

I am currently doing the 30 day shred. It is very good! I would highly recommend it. She will push you, but the 20 minutes go fast. I have bought the 6 week 6 pack abs, but have not started it yet. I exercise Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but that is just because of my work schedule. You can do it as many times a week as you want. Since I am just starting, I use 2 pound weights. They are light on some of the moves but heavy on others. Just depends on your fitness leve. Good luck with it!!0 -

I really enjoy her DVDs! I have a love hate relationship with her! Lol I done 30 day shred but never completed it and only did level one. I have also done no more trouble zones which I really enjoy doing. And I just bought killer buns and thighs which has the same sequence of intense circuits as 30ds but for buns and thighs. I love this one!!0

I have done the shred a couple years ago and I liked it, but got a little bored at times... I think 10 days per lever was long for. However, I just purchaed Ripped in 30 and will be starting that in a week or so. I haven't done JM other dvd's, so can't help there..
PS...your profile picture is soooo cute!0 -
Just started 30 day shred & love it so far :-) I've seen that people on here get pretty good results with her.0

I did the 30 DS and had great results. I did it 30 days straight (since it is only 20mins) I lost over 10.5 inches and 7 ilbs. Developed toned arms...... I just bought Ri30 and will give this ago once I get over this head cold. But I will only do it on my off days from the C25K0

People here have had great results with the 30DS. I really tried to stick it out this time, but I just can't do the same workout for 10 days. Boring.0

I think you would really benefit starting out with 30DS start with 3lb hand weights. You should do this 5-6 days per week and progress to the next level once you feel ready to. Regardless of how "boring" it may be doing the same level for 10 days you really need to stick with it, you will only get results when you stick with a program and give it 100%. You should also eat cleaner, less processed foods will make you feel better and you will look forward to your next workout, it goes hand in hand. Stick with it, you will have a love/hate relationship with it. I completed this twice, it was my gateway dvd when i began my lifestyle change in January. Since then I moved onto her Ripped in 30, 6 week 6 pack, Shred it with Weights and her newest Killer Buns & Thighs. Her dvds are great home workouts and I can attest to that. Exercise a little and eat better and the weight will come off!0 -
I just stumbled upon a ginormous group of folks that just started "shredding" if you're interested http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/369806--serious-shredders-17th-october-2011-o0

Thanks everyone, I think I will take the plunge and invest!
