I got an HRM and logged it as my own exercise using the HRM to calculate the calorie burn.0

yep, i second the hrm thing. its the best way to log and keep track of your calories0

The only good way to do it is with an heart rate monitor.0

Any good suggestions for a HRM to buy?0

Polars are the best and you can find one for $50-$90 used or ~$80 for a new one depending on which model.
You can get other brands that are cheaper but Polars are good quality. If you decided to go another route just make sure to get one with a chest strap, they're more accurate.0 -

Thanks! Do you need a chest strap with the polar one?0
