Kettlebell'ers..... your set-up?

I'm just curious what you other kettlebell'ers have for a home set-up. What I'm really interested in knowing is what your flooring is. I moved into a new house with all tile floors, and although I've never dropped a bell, I'm not anxious to find out if they'll break a tile during some of the moves.

What kind of flooring do you workout on?

Yep... should I send you my Paypal account info? lol

I workout to The Art of Strength DVDs, so I need to be near a TV for most KB workouts.

I don't have them, but I'd bet they could crack tile (especially the heavy ones I'm sure that you use!) My parents have those interlocking rubber flooring tiles..probably expensive, but better than replacing tiles! :)

I have dropped one (well it got pushed off a counter) and it dented/cut the linoleum. I'd venture to guess it could do equal if not more damage to tile as well!! get a mat, my friend!!

I have carpeting and i have dropped mine before, it probably would break a certain kind of tile or possibly damage wood flooring, depending on how heavy the kettlebell is..

I have a dedicated workout / game room. Those "jigsaw" mats they sell at the sporting goods stores are thin and expensive and would take a bunch to cover my whole floor. I got some of what are basically heavy rubber horse stall mats. They're really durable, about 3/4" thick, and come in 4x6 rectangles. They are a dense rubber, not a foam rubber like those jigsaw ones. If you dropped a heavy kettlebell from a high swing or something, I don't know if anything would guarantee the safety of your tile, but I can't think of anything better than this. My floor is actually my concrete slab that is acid stained and saw-cut to look like 3' tiles, so nothing to break there although a bare concrete floor could certainly chip from a kettlebell drop.
I ordered mine online because these particular ones had a little texture to them that I liked. You can get them from any feed store, but they are often stored outside and may not be in a condition you want displayed in your home which is another reason I special ordered mine. I believe mine are the "Gorilla Mats" as shown on this website, but I don't recall if that's where I got them. I ordered them and picked them up at a warehouse in Phoenix to save the freight charges because they are 100lbs apiece and I got 10 or 12 of 'em!

I, too, have interlocking rubber horse stall mats. Got them at my local farmer supply store. They work out to less than half of the thinner, inferior exercise store stuff.

They crack the flooring at the gym (rubbery stuff), so I'm guessing the horse stall mats is the way to go. The trainer that does KB class built a "stage" using plywood glued together to try to save the mats.

I bought a bunch of those mats many years ago for the dogs... The rubber smell was too intense, and never aired out of the room. After a week, the came out.
I may look into a few though, or maybe a few sheets of 3/4" plywood covered with a thin rubber mat.
    Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

These did have a strong rubber smell for awhile but it ultimately went away. Totally forgot about that.
