Looking for friends with similar goals and similar interests don't hurt either. :) Just turned 35, and I have about 100 lbs to lose to be considered in the "healthy" BMI range. I'm less of a hermit now, and it's lonely here when you have no one to get to know.

Non-weight interests: I do a LOT of arts and crafts stuff. Draw, paint, bead, cross stitch, crochet... pretty much anything I can get my hands on, though cross-stitch is my go to project. My artwork comes and goes with my self-confidence. :/
I play video games. WoW, DA:O and DA2, sometimes LotRO or Champions Online. I have a PS3 and a Wii, but those get used more for Netflix or offline games.
Read mostly Piers Anthony, but some Robert Aspirin, Stephen King, David Eddings, Terry Brooks and Katie MacAlister.
I like to travel, but I don't, because right now airline seats are torture. Pretty much any public seating is torture for tremendous posterier. :/ BUT that will change in time.

I just bought a house, and I have only my rescue-kitty as companionship at this time. She's been with me for about 9 years now. She's a tortie and spoiled rotten. :)

I have exactly 0 non-family obligated friends here in the Houston area, and no one I would really call a good friend outside of the area. So external support is in short supply for me. WHY do I have none? Because I isolated myself. I was miserable and hurting and I withdrew. I'm trying to slowly inch out now.

Not a very exciting intro and maybe a bit scary. But I'm reaching out, which is something I'm usually a pansy about. I doubt I'm the only person trying to find my way out of the rock (boulder?) I buried myself under.

Edit to add: The piggy in my profile picture is from one of the pendants I made last year in a fit of creativity. :)

Hi Heather. I have been using the phone app for about a month and just started checking the site out online. I have lost about 17 pounds so far and have another 55lbs to go to meet my goal. It always helps to have folks to bounce things off of if you need to. Feel free to add me, and again welcome-Gene

Hi Heather...we have some things in common and if you'd like, feel free to add me as a friend!
I'm 35, love to cross stitch, have 85 lbs to lose, and am pretty introverted. I live in my home town so I do have my family and some great friends for support...I'd be lost without them so I can't imagine how difficult it is for you feeling alone. I LOVE to travel but have become afraid of flying so I live for road trips. I'm a lot busier though...as a single mother to two children and going to school.

I can appreciate that reaching out isn't easy, because I am a total wallflower...and quite good at blending in unseen. I'm glad you did, here, though. You can do this! :)

I'm near your age (36) and share your interests - I love doing crafts (crochet is my favorite). I like video games, quit playing WoW and would like to find something new.

My weight goal is not like yours - I only have 16 pounds to go. So you might not be interested in adding me as a friend, although you're welcome to. But I did want to say I love the cute piggy!

Feel free to add me too! We have some things in common. I love crafts, cats, I have over 100 pounds to lose, and I can totally understand the isolation thing. I'd love to get to know you better and offer some support in this journey. Take care!

    Hi Heather!

You've definitely come to the right place to find support and motivation. Just remember that it takes time and not to get frustrated....that's my problem, and I try not to let it get the best of me, but it's hard.

I pretend I'm artsy, but I'm just kidding myself. I lost my sketchbook in an apartment fire 4 years ago and I just can't seem to get back into it. I do love cross stitching though. I also LOVE Robert Aspirin, Stephen King, David Eddings, Terry Brooks and Katie MacAlister.

I wish you luck on your journey. - Jasmyne

Thank you all so much for the adds and comments. You guys are awesome! :)
  • Hey Heather!
I just hit my 20-lb mark, after using this app for 80 days. I'm excited, because I've started doing Jazzercize, which has made all the difference in the world. My clothes fit looser and I got a two-syllable damn from my b/f when he was walking behind me. I'm stronger now, don't have to grab the bed when i get up and my knees hurt less. Took a long time for me to admit it was lack of activity that was my main problem. I moved from Houston to the Austin area 4 years ago. I'd love to be friends!
