Hi I'm Ashlyn, I'm twenty three and I stumbled across this page just by looking on tips to lose weight. It seemed like something I may be interested in especially since it's free. I'm at 218lbs currently and for short term I would love to get down to 170 and long term 150. I'm looking for people to become friends with to motivate each other on this journey. I know it's not going to be easy but if I dont take the first step forward it will continue to get worse. I dont want to get heavier. So im on a new kick, no junk for the next six months and we'll see how much its paid off...Are you in?

good luck to you Ashlyn. Although you have the right attitude today, even the person with the strongest will power will face mental stumbling blocks along their journey. they can often be more troublesome than the physical stumbling blocks. To help you on your journey, I recommend that you review my will power blog below and complete that exercise.
  • Congrats on your decision to start this new lifestyle! I'm currently 199 pounds, 13 pounds down from 212, and this website has helped me out tremendously. In fact, I'm 100% positive that I never would have been able to lose those pounds without MFP. Feel free to friend me, if you want, I'm more than willing to offer support and ask for some in return!

Giving up on junk food is hard! As long as you stay within your goals, there's no reason you can't indulge every so often. Don't starve yourself or deprive yourself of what you want to eat - That's one of the main reasons people quit! Just stay within your goals every day, watch portions, and definitely come onto MFP for love and support, there is plenty to go around!

Hi, I started out on this weight loss journey end of June last year, and at that point weighed in at 319 lbs - I'm now 93.5 lbs lighter and down to 225.5 lbs........still a way to go.....want to shift some more of this weight by the end of this year. Good luck on your journey, and happy to become friends to help and motivate each other. Cath
