As a former competitive synchronized swimmer & coach, swimming is one of my favorite exercises and a big part of me working hard to be healthier and lose weight.
I swim on average 3 times a week for about an hour/hour and half at a time but am getting really board with my workouts.
Are there any other swimmers out there who could suggested some great lap swims/work outs for me??

Personally I LOVE water aerobics. I get an awesome workout when I push myself. Try it, you might like it.

We now offer an aquatic Zumba class at the pool where I teach. It looks like a lot of fun! I don't have any ideas on workouts, but I can tell you that chasing a 4 year old around the pool is QUITE the workout!

I'm a lap lover myself, but I do try to mix it up.

One of my current faves is:
    10 X 25butterfly, 25 back, 25 breast, 50 free, 25 pull
    10 X 50 kickboard free, 50 kickboard dolphin
    10 X 50 free

I also don't count laps--I do wheat I call the "lap affirmation alphabet"
First lap repeat to myself: Attitude is everything!
Second lap repeat: Balance is beautiful!
    Third lap repeat: Cut Calories!
Fourth lap repeat: Determination is delightful!

    you get the idea.

Twice through the alphabet is 52 laps!

I have two swim days built into my weekly exercise routine, but also can get a bit bored with swimming laps. I have recently started water jogging (aqua socks help a lot) and also on YouTube you can find TONS of videos for aquacise/water boot camp stuff. Now on days that I swim for my workout I do a combination of laps, jogging and water exercises for about 90 minutes, it’s an awesome workout and its nice changing it up from just laps.

    Good luck,
    ~KJ

I love that idea! I'll definitely be giving that try :) Thanks!
