Really?

You can't find time to eat right?
You don't have time to exercise?
You can't stop eating junk?
You can't get your family to eat healthy?
You can't afford a gym?
You can't afford to eat healthy?
You can't seem to lose weight and you wonder why...

The common problem is you. Yes its tough love but its the truth, You chose what you eat, if it goes in your mouth your most likely the one who puts it in. You chose what you do with your time, you can sit or you can move but you chose. Admit it and you will be on your way to success.

Every thing I listed above is a choice you have to make

It doesn't take long to eat right, prep ahead of time once a week you can make lunch for the week, prep your meals on the weekend and all you have to do is heat them up.

You can exercise, if you work in a building with stairs use them, walk to the store rather then drive, park away from doors, use bathrooms on a different floor. Use your breaks at works to get a quick walk, do squats, jog in place, jumping jacks, running up stairs burns a ton of calories ect....

You can stop eating junk, want something sweet have a yam. want something salty popcorn. The choices are endless and you can get tons of advice on this site so read and learn and make changes.

You can get your family to eat healthy, if your the food prepare that's whats for dinner eat it or go with out or fix your own meals. Sounds harsh but most husbands and children are lazy and will chose to eat healthy. Be the example change your life and make them want to change theirs. If you not the cook, it can be a little tougher, but can still be done. Choose to eat all the veggies, cut back on the portions of the less healthy foods. Enter your meal before you sit down to eat so you know what your putting into your face. Your plate should be 50% vegetables

You can afford a gym membership, they are getting cheaper. There are some for as little as a $1 a day or less, check out Snap Fitness, Anytime Fitness, 24hr Fitness ect... I understand times are tough and maybe you can't afford one, or chose not to skip your coffee or cut a dollar a day for your health. Gym or Cable? Gym or Night Out? Gym or you know what you can cut? What your life worth to you, how much are you willing to pay for a extra day? week? month? years?

You can afford to eat healthy. If you chose to eat fast food, lets say at $4.00 a meal 3meals a day for 7 days is $84.00 a week. Veggies are not that expensive you can get a bag of frozen veggies for $1.00 Chicken is $1.00 a pound, eggs are less then $1.00 a doz. If you chose to make the choice to eat whole foods you will actually find out you save money, we do.

You can lose weight. Make some changes if you repeat what you have done in the past can you expect different results? Plan your life, meals, exercise and stick to it, and you can do it.

WI Eggs are 70 cents a dozen fresh from farms or just over a buck in the store
  • Eating healthy is a privilege.

There are such thing as food deserts where it is close to impossible to not spend an arm and a leg purchasing healthy food. It has nothing to do with laziness is some cases. A lot "poor" areas don't have grocery stores, and some people don't have access to a vehicle to bring them to and from the store. I'm lucky that I work at a grocery store, and am able to get discounts. I don't know where eggs are a dollar, or chicken is a dollar a pound. Eggs are 2.29 for a dozen, and chicken is usually over 3 a pound.

Sometimes the dollar menu IS cheaper for someone living on their own, who doesn't have access to proper grocery stores.

Here the eggs at the dollar store are for a half dozen. Cheapest I get them is 1.59 a dozen. I live in NY so prices are higher. I didn't really buy much diet food, I just cut way down on my portions. My issue was never over eating. I was only eating one meal a day and then going to bed. Once I changed my habits, spaced my meals out and ate healthier portions I started dropping weight. I also started excersizing. My husband is a bean pole and weighs in at a 140 pounds at 5'9...My son is a 25 pound 4 year old, Only one on the diet is me.

about the same prices for eggs here as well...if they are on sale at least. Food is pricey in Seattle, WA and getting fruits and veggies is even priceier- forget about organics. I am lucky enough to afford it though- as the only person I support is myself. I think its totally worth it.

I don't know if there is a YMCA where you live but check it out. Most of them have financial aid available for folks- all you have to do is fill out an application and provide proof of your income. Once- when I was making very little money and getting food stamps- I got a membership to the YMCA for only $5 a month. Totally affordable.
  • I totally get where you are coming from...but i kind of agree with some people above. I lived in Monterey Bay, CA for school and then moved to Walnut Creek. Both of these places the cost of bread is ridiculous and it does, unfotunately, pan out to being cheaper to buy processed ( or even drive thru) food.

On the other hand, even though I cannot afford to buy fresh everything, i created a balance between processed and fresh that allows my body to get the nutrients it needs while - whether i like it or not - enjoying the processed food it's used to.

I've lost almost 20 pounds this way and it seems to work.
  • Also, to save money on working out: youtube videos and exercise tapes from garage sales!

Prices aside depending on where you live...I agree 100% with what you said.

I ate too much of the wrong foods.

I now eat the right amount of the right foods.

I stay as active as my life allows.

I don't complain about what I allow into my life.

I've lost 94 lbs...accepting all of those things.

I will be at goal in 8 more pounds and I will never be that 240 lb person again.

I measure and weigh my food ..I watch my calories and moderate my healthy carbs.

I used to be on food stamps (single young mother) It's very sad when the cheapest foods are the most unhealthy.

Some nights we only had mac n cheese because it was 34 cents a box....

I do empathize with the people who have to make those hard choices. but...having said that if i had gotten my butt outside after eating that mac n cheese and ran around with my son until we both dropped I might not have gained so much..
I can only look forward..I will not look back.

My 2 younger boys will NEVER know that person I was back then. I'm ok with that. More than ok.

My son ..a US Marine..(yep a single mom raised him) told me the other day. Mama you are so tiny. I am so proud of you.

    One day at a time.

I agree with some of what you have said but your are way off with your prices. I live in south AR in small town USA and I pay 2.48 for brown organic eggs, I have never seen chicken for $1lb. I pay 2.29 lb for boneless chicken breasts, and fresh vegs are higher every time I shop. but I am lucky enough to be able to afford to buy what we need to be healthy everyone is not so blessed. so please be careful how you work things next time.

A dozen eggs are almost $4 where I live, and chicken is usually $3-4 a pound. Wild price points aside, I very much agree with the rest of the post.

    You have the right idea.

The debate on price is irrelevant.

The ability to make excuses never ceases to amaze me. If you want something, you will make it work.

I did not shop all over the world or US, I guess I am lucky to be in the midwest where food is more reasonable. I also must belive that the wages are much higher in the areas where food is so much more. The point is if you chose to eat healthy you will. Chicken here is on a 89 cents a pound but its got a bone in it and its not skinless.

So does mcdonalds have a 1 dollar chicken sandwich where you all live or is it 2-3 bucks. Just curious. For those who choose to be offended by me quoting prices from my area I am sorry mail me a buck and I will mail you a pound of chicken winter is almost here it will be frozen on my side of the shiping  lol.

I was shocked to walk into The Dollar Tree (only a buck store) and they are selling 2 pieces of frozen chicken for a $1

I have raised 3 boys. I can tell you if there is a bargain this mom can find it.

I've had to eat baked chicken leg quarters and green beans for a week straight because it's on sale and is healthier than rice and gravy and corn bread like the old days.
