so Im training for my first 5k and its in a couple of weeks its pretty much flat with a few small hills and then theres a good size one (i dont get winded from walking with the small hills but the good size one i get winded from even walking it (its about 340 ft above sea level) any tips of tackling that hill while running it? do i go slow coming up to it somewhat fast to climb it then slow again to catch my breath? also how could I "recreate the elevation" on a treadmill

Why try to recreate it? Can you just run it outside? The real deal? If that isn't possible, I highly recommend running something outside with inclines, anything really, even if it doesn't mimic the trip route. Treadmill running is very different from outside and hills are something to be tackled on a regular basis to feel comfortable doing them during a race. Learning to pace yourself without the motor of the treadmill and the digital display is another skill to practice (outside) these next 2 weeks. Very easy to get caught up in the fray and tire yourself out early. Congrats on the training and be sure to let us know how it goes.

most of the days im working when its daytime out and is out when its dark time so I then go to the gym after work so running most of the time outside is not an option for me minus this weekend

To tackle the hill, try to shorten your stride a bit and pump your arms more When you pump your arms you'll find that your feet follow along, not sure why but they do :) I'm not sure how to replicate the hill on a treadmill but maybe just try running a bit of your normal run on an incline. Best of luck with your 5k and have fun!!
