I started an excercise routine monday When I was an eighteen year old Marine still green behind the ears I weighed 180 pounds and I stood 5'11'' I had the world at my feet I could take on the enemy without a thought. Then Bam the world started to get the best of me. Now stooping at 5'10'' with gravity tipping the scales at 239 pounds one back surgury and two divorces later. I am over that crap. I was once a lean Marine. So I am calling all Marines out there join me in take back our lean machine that God gave us and fight back against gravity and kick this world right back in the *kitten*. I have 49 pounds to go,,,and would love to be able to run again. Add smiley my *kitten* I am pissed off friggin smiley my *kitten*..

OORAH! I am not a Marine, but welcome aboard! From this former USN wife (20 years we did), thank you for your service! Good luck to you here. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm not a Marine, but I am a Marine Mom. Welcome and good luck! Ooorah!!!
  • Not a Marine, but former Army and hubby is Navy. Been through 2 foot rebuilds in the last 2 1/2 years and a divorce after 18 years of marriage 5 years ago, so I do share a little bit in common with you. I have about 40 pounds to lose after my *kitten* spread from being couch and wheelchair bound. I got pretty comfortable being lazy to be honest. Now I'm doing something about it. FINALLY! It's going to be a long road, but if I could max out consistently in Army PT tests (although 20 years ago), I can be active and eat right. RIGHT?

Add me if you want to... I need someone to keep me kicked in the butt everyday! And here's your smiley... :glasses:

Hey, Semper Fidelis! I'm going at my fitness from a slightly different direction in that I'm trying to put on a few pounds and reshape my physique but I understand what you're going through. I was asked to wear my Dress Blues about ten years ago for my cousin's wedding and I couldn't get both arms into the jacket let alone button it up over my beer gut. I blamed it on a bunch of other stuff but being an out of shape, alcoholic turd had a great deal to do with that. Once I got rid of the cigarettes (my idea) and the booze (the judge's idea), I needed something else to do with all that free time and extra money so now I blow it on exercise, cycling gear and fitness equipment. Not only that, a good workout is the only thing that can't be ruined after it's been completed. My work frequently goes sideways "quick, fast, and in a hurry" and you know how life can give you a bushel full of lemons so I need that psychic anchor whether it's working out or planning the next session.

I wish you the heartiest of hellos and good luck with your fitness path. "Side straddle hops, now!"
