Try frozen cranberries :] one serving is about 50 calories and it gets rid of my sweet tooth instantly :]0

brush your teeth then your mouth will feel fresh and you wont want to eat because it will taste funny....works for me0

Yes fruit, and also I try to save calories for the end of the day, that way when munchies hit I have some left, but I usually eat a whole carrot, or munch down some cereal, things like granola bars.... Yogurt is always good!!! Good luck!0

I usually combine some carrots and celery with some sweet fruit like strawberries. The carrots and celery fill me and the fruit cures my sweet tooth both with very few calories.0

Healthy cereal ( add a little honey if you need to), dark chocolate (with or without nuts), sugar free drinks (not soda), popcorn, add cinnamon to most things. I know it's hard. Try some beef jerky as a snack at night. Lots of protein and some of the flavors are a little sweet. Also have a night time routine that doesn't give you time to want sweets every night.0

i tried these little rice cakes - look like silver dollars - very satisfying, and not fattening either0

I save about 300 calories for after supper munching. I usually head for the popcorn, but if I want sweets, there are these 100 calorie slim fast bars that are just like eating a skor bar. Also, 100 cal Fibre 1 bars sometimes do the trick. I always have 100 cal (pre-packaged) snacks on hand. And I'm allowed 3 of them if I save 300 cals for evening snacking.0

Before you leave for work, portion yourself out a nice snack. If something healthy and yummy is waiting for you at home you will be less likely to scour the pantry for the easiest munchie fix.0

I usually have cottage cheese and some type of fruit. I get the munchie really bad at night!!0

One of my favorite snacks is apple slices with PB2. A serving of PB2 is only 45 calories and tastes almost like peanut butter (not as creamy of course, but still yum!). It's a snack around 120 calories and definitely curbs the munchies.
Also, if you have a Trader Joe's around you, try the apple cranberry mini fiber cakes. They are 80 calories each and have half a day's worth of fiber. They're not that sweet, but they take a while to chew and they are filling. Hope this helps!0 -
I am the same way! I usually try to save a few extra calories so I can indulge. I like sugar free frozen fudge bars for 40 calories. I have also tried the tooth brushing trick. Unfortunately where I live (Iowa) I can't get outside and go for walks after dinner as the seasons are changing, but some nights I just have to leave the house and go walk around the mall.(Don't take any money with you or it will be counter-productive!)0

I make sure my dinner fills me up, and then I brush my teeth right after dinner... so I'm ready for bed. If cravings get bad, I'll have a honey crisp apple (sweet) or a 100 calorie bag of microwave popcorn, make a hot cup of tea.. or just chew gum. I try to get into the mindset that once dinner is done, I'm done eating for the day.0

frozen fruit of any kind works for me! And if you throw in a little bit of vanilla yogurt that helps too. Not bad on calories!0

Try eating fruit to kill the crave. If that doesn't work, try some of the 100 calorie snacks.0

Ugh...! I get the nighttime munchies, too! I try NOT to snack at night. Period. Even if I try to have a healthy snack - it ends with a junk-food-follow-up! My advice (and also my daily battle): Try to stay out of the kitchen after dinner! Good luck!0

Shift your planned meals and snacks as late in the day as you need to avoid night time binge snacking. If that means eating dinner or snack just before bed, so be it. 8 hours without eating whilst you sleep is a lot, even if you are sedentary.0

baby carrots w/ lite ranch dressing dip. Drink large glass of water0
-
45 cal bread-toasted & a tsp of jelly. You can go crazy and sprinkle some PB2 for excitement!0
-
As an alternative suggestion, have you tried shifting more of your calories towards evening/late at night? In other words, eat less calories during the day, so that you CAN eat more at night and still hit your targets?0

Are you eating consistently throughout the day? And do your meals include carbs and fats to keep you satisfied and your insulin levels steady? Cravings are normal, but they shouldn't be overwhelming to the point that you can't make good decisions about what kind of food to eat. if you have a daily plan, meaning if you already know what each meal is going to be and when you are going to eat it, then its easier to just let the food take care of itself when the time to eat comes around.
I eat 6 meals a day, beginning at about 8 Am and ending at 10 PM. "Meals" don't mean an appetizer, a couple entrees and a desert! A can of tuna mixed with half a chopped apple rolled up in a couple lettuce leaves, or a protein drink and a half a cucumber, or 6 egg whites and some avocado and oatmeal are examples of meals...all under 300 calories each. All the meals are the same for the week, but they can be in a different order in the day and I can make tweaks in the macros if I need to every week. For instance, I wasn't doing as well on a higher ratio of carbs to protein, so we cut out half a cup of oatmeal and added a protein source...now I am back to losing consistently and gaining muscle.:)
Nutrition is a science and you should be very involved in how you feed your body!0 -
similar to what others said..
I've started to eat a very small breakfast, like 100 calories or less, like vegetables or miso..avoiding flour or anything that might inspire a spike in blood sugar...
then by lunch you don't even need to eat as much usually, I try to keep lunch kind of small..300-400 calories tops
then for dinner you have a lot of calories left over, eat something sensible loaded with veggies or soup, and you can have dessert!
if i treat myself in the middle of the day i will have forgotten by the time dinner's here and will want to treat myself at the end too. i'ved learned i just don't have the self-control built up to do that kind of thing yet. so i save it for the end.0 -
I like sugar free jello. 10 cals in a serving and you didn't really taste a difference. I eat it SLOWLY to trick myself. lol0

Grapes ... in my house they are referred to as "candy". They sit out on the kitchen counter so I can pop one in my mouth whenever I have the need for something sweet or satisfying.
Also ... when you think you are going to cave in and eat something you shouldn't ... paint your nails. Put a good couple of coats on in your fav color and you won't want to mess them up going for something to snack on when the night munchies hit. This actually works for me.0 -
I looked at your food diary, and your daily protein isn't being met every day. It's high as it is, but maybe you could try adding more protein into your diet and that could help calm your appetite so you don't have these cravings so bad. Just a suggestion. I know adding high protein food to my breakfast or lunch helps keep me satisfied throughout the entire day so I'm not tempted to over eat or indulge with sweets.0

If you are not eating 1200 cal's a day your body trys to get you to eat by acting fammished to get up to that min. Plus if you have not eatin for a long period of time you will have a dip in blood sugar which your body wants to raise it by making you eat. Hope this helps.0

A giant peace:)0

I totally agree - I get the WORST munchies and going cold turkey is my only option. Even healthy snacks lead to gorging otherwise :P0
