If my long term plan is healthy weight loss and weight maintenance but my 28 day goal is a little more abrupt (like I want to lose as much as I possibly can by Nov. 18th) - what do you think I can lose using 1200 cals plus 30 minutes of cardio a day and weight training twice a week?

Do I need to be more extreme if I want to lose more than 8 pounds by Nov. 18th?

I know we are all about the healthy dieting and healthy goals, but I'd love some tips to help me give myself a VERY happy birthday (i.e. by losing as much by mid november as possible.

I don't think you're going to get very positive comments on this since mostly everyone here is all about slow & steady wins the race :)

You could do the 30 Day Shred (or some other Jillian Michaels' workout). I did it for just one month, the changes were spectacular!

I totally appreciate that we need to foster a community of healthy weight loss/maintenance and healthy choices, compassion, support, and I do apologize if anyone is offended or unhappy with my question.

I think I just am hoping to supplement my effort with ideas I hadn't thought of for a short term goal within a long term healthy plan...

    Thanks to all.

You just have to keep in mind..the slower you lose the weight..the greater the odds of the weight actually staying off. I do know over exercising can cause weight gain..you would have to increase your calories..Or as a poster suggested..JM 30DS is awesome..

I am all about slow and steady too, but that being said, I'm buckling down for a mini goal on 11/4, since I'm going in for a wedding dress fitting.

As long as you are consuming at least 1200 calories a day, I don't see anything wrong with it. If you go too extreme, you might go into starvation mode and stop losing and you don't want that. I don't think 8 pounds in roughly one month is too extreme in most cases. I guess it depends on how much you have to lose.

Actually 8pounds in a month is only about 2pounds a week, which is the acceptable maximum to lose per week anyway. Others might get mad at me "BUT I'M WHICH YA - MY B-DAY IS NOV, 17TH!!!!

I would love to help, but don't know where you are coming from. You have a closed food diary and the fact that you are only looking to lose 18#s total says something. How much do you weigh now? Are you currently active, and if so, how many calories do you usually burn a day. Lots of questions need to be answered before anyone can really help you with your question. Eight pound is very doable, but the question remains, Is it doable for you?

I didn't realize my food diary was closed! Thanks for the heads up.

Very doable for someone your size and the way you eat. I would suggest you increase your excercise and JM30DS will help with that. You should also increase your intake of water to where you are drinking at least 8 cups a day. Like me, I see you like to partake of the ETOH. On days you drink, I would probably add a 15 minute brisk walk. Also eating more regular will help to increase your metabolism, so try to eat about 5-6 meals a day. The calorie count is good for you, I think. I am not a dietician or a trainer, btw but I have lost 60 pounds in 7 months, and this works for me. Good Luck.
