Somehow I have managed to hurt my knee. I didn't do anything that I know of yet I have excrusiating pain especially going up & down the steps. I went to the doctor yesterday & the x-rays are normal. They are referring me to ortho to get it examined further.

In the meantime, I don't know what to do for exercising. I would always either walk (mostly) or ride my stationary bike. I just don't know what I can do to get my heart rate pumping & get burning calories without using my leg.

punching .Jabs upper cuts elbow throws all of these will raise your heart rate and help you burn cals. Its not that same as walking but you could do it at your desk at work

I hope the knee is feeling better soon! While sitting you can do boxing. And if you want it to be harder get some dumbbells. You also can do push ups, planks, sit ups. If you have a swiss ball, you can do some of these whole sitting on the ball.

Swimming. I like to do freestyle with just my arms and it can get my heart rate going. And most pools should have little floats to hold between your legs to make it easier to swim with just your arms.
