So I just found out that I have a hyper active thyroid, not sure how long this has been going on for. My question to you is how has this affected you?

tired and crabby all the time! my hair and skin was awful! But most of all TIRED. They have to start you out on a low dose of meds and work your way up,but once you hit that magic number you will feel like a new person!

I have hypothyroid and after finding an excellent doctor and 5 months of lab work and medication adjustments, I am finally "fixed!" LOL I am actually on the line for being hyper now but feel better than I have in such a long time.

Just be sure your physician is testing your free T3/T4 levels and have patience with the all the medication adjustments/changes.

I thought with hyper (high running thyroid) you actually lose weight very fast (and also hair, etc.)?
  • well if u have "hyper" thyroid (over active) u should be losing weight like crazy. If ur putting on weight u mite mean that u have "hypo" (under avtive or slow). Im 25 yrs old and i started out with hyper thyroid 9 yrs ago there is no cure for it and meds for it have alot of side effects so i did a radiation treatment that reversed it to hypo i just take a pill a day that replaces the thyroid.

That's what I've read, but I haven't lost any weight fast like that if anything I had been gaining weight. I'm losing now that I've been excercising and watching what I eat.
