Hi Guys,

Just getting my head around MFP and just had a couple of questions about the site which are:

Do you fill out your calarie counter the night before as you plan your meals or is it best to do it as your day goes on or at the end of the day?

How often do you weigh in?

I think thats all for now, i'm sure I'll think ofmore soon :D

Thanks in advance

Helen

Hey it totally depends on personal preference. I know a few peple (my partner included) who logs it the night before so he knows what hes going to have. I prefer to log it as I go, I change my mind often and sometimes dont feel like what I had planned (mainly snacks). Sometimes I log my breakfast, lunch and dinner the night before and my snacks as I have them lol. I dont add exercise until Ive done it though.

I tend to plan my day in advance, so I log it all in the morning, and adjust it as I go along if I need to. I don't log any exercise until I have actually done it though! For the most part, I find that having put it all in, I tend to stick to it, so it helps me in that way. I weigh myself every morning, because I don't like surprises, and I don't get stressed about the fluctuations, but I only log it once a week, and whatever it says on sat morning is what I log, even if it's up from earlier in the week.

    Good luck!! :flowerforyou:

When I started off, and when I was working outside home I would normally plan my day the night before, and log my day in the morning (or night before if you dont have time in the morning) - I used to take all my food and snacks for the day to work - so it was really important that I was well prepared.....then as "life happens" during the day I would make any changes necesary....

This is especially important when I was doing big workouts, as I could plan and execute to eat more right through the day - and not get to a situation at night where I needed to eat more than a 1000 calories.....

Now that I have been on here a bit longer (and I am also working from home) I have a little bit more leeway - so I still have an idea in my head of what my day is going to look like, but I might not always log it ahead of time.

Even though I plan for my exercise - and make sure I eat for it - I do not log any exercise until I have my HRM readings....

Like she said, just do what suits you. i sometime enter in all my evening meals for the week when i do my shop! my boyfriend can log on to my account and see what he's having for dinner!!!

as for weigh in again its up to you. i go to curves (a ladies only exercise club) and they weight me monthly. I think if i was weighed every week i wouldnt see a great loss! but if seeing 1 to 2lbs a week come off a weekly weight in is good. just remeber to do it at the same time eg monday at 7.30am as your weight changes throughout the day and you dont want to disappoint yourself.

    good luck and enjoy MFP
