Try to stay away from fried foods, go with broiled or baked get sauces on the side. I always lean towards chicken as a healthy choice but fish is good too....just watch what they may cook it in for extra fats, etc. Have A good night!

Look for "will power". LOL Something I still don't have. Use your best judgement. Salad with dressing on the side is the safest bet.

Its your friends engagement party. Have fun, just don't put attention on yourself by not eating anything.
Eat smart, but don't worry so much about going over for a day.

Seriously.. It's a friends engagement party and needs to be celebrated. If I was OP, I wouldn't say oh sorry, I'm just having a salad guys while everyone else is eating normal food and prob. having drinks.

    To Op:
Eat what your heart desires(drinks and all) and start over on sunday. One night of celebration never killed a diet.

Just enjoy your night out, obviously any salad sounds like a healthy option, but beware of the salad dressings, they have loads of calories, so for that matter, just have a great meal, take it like a treat for your body, and most of all, don't think it's going to affect your weight at all. But most of all... do workout today, so you won't notice any excess tomorrow, no matter if you even have a sweet as dessert, if you do work out today and tomorrow, you'll be just fine. :D

Portion control is your friend! WHATEVER you order,go ahead and ask for a leftover box immediately after it's served. Split the portion and put the rest in the box so you're not tempted to overeat it.

a celebration does not mean that you have an excuse to splurge and undo any progress that you've already made. that being said, no need to be a stick in the mud either. choose a healthy appetizer, avoid fried foods, everything in moderation, and have a drink.

i went out to celebrate with a friend of mine recently. i ordered a salad first to help fill me up, and they had roasted duck and mashed potatoes on the menu, which i ordered. on further inspection, duck is very low cal, so i was happy. i had all the veggies on the plate, and left a little mashed potatoes and duck on the plate. when asked if i was full, i said, "no, leaving room for dessert." and i enjoyed dessert too, since i knew i had controlled myself during dinner.

true. Ask for low cal dressing, and ask for it on the side.

I just came back form the party. I had a blast. but im sooooo sad I ate tons. first they had the Bruschetta I ate that I was starving. Then they had bread with butter i had one little peck without butter. then they had salad I ate that but not all of it. No dressing. Then came the meal There was pasta with sauce and chicken. They didnt have anything healthyer so i picked chicken. Then the cake came out i had 1 tiny spoon. :( but that was alot. Tomororw Im going to the gym! need to burn all what i ate :( And i drank some wine!

This was a fixed menu so i could not change any food or anything.

Seriously.. You did just fine. Don't go nuts beating yourself up at the gym because you had one small spoon of cake and some wine. Whatever you burn, you burn.. period.
