I feel like whenever I go to the gym to exercise it makes me hungry all day long. Does this happen to other people? I usually go on the elliptical for 30 to 45 minutes when I go.

Yep, every time!0

I always eat more when I exercise, and I should! I didn't eat when my body was telling me to and I ended up on a plateau for 2 months. Now, I'm eating more and exercising harder because now I have the energy from food to do it!0

This is a good reason to work out at night, if you can... I do, and it definitely helps cause I go to bed a few hours later, plus I know it's bad for me to eat after 7pm.0

I work from home, so after the gym I usually come home (yes hungry) and make myself an omelet and it holds off the hunger for quite some time at least 2-3 hours ...
I heard protein is good for helping your muscles recover... and well it fills you up too0 -
Depends on the time of day. When I work out really early in the morning (usually before I start at the hospital), it doesn't make me hungry (I eat a 200 calorie or so breakfast before I go).
However, if I work out AFTER work (or worse after my son goes to bed), I am STARVING. Better hide any simple carbs, they will be munched up in a jiffy.
Needless to say, I try to do my workouts early.0 -
Only if I don't load up on protein. If I consume a lot of protein, I'm alright.0

Yes, then I eat more, then have to burn that off, then get hungry again so have to burn that off... never ending cycle!0

Yep! But it makes total sense and works for me to eat back my calories, and doing it with protien keeps me fuller, so it's no problem.0

I find that certain exercises make me hungrier than others hahah.
Also if I drink more water during and after the work out some of the initially intense hunger is lessened.
Maybe you could do a high fiber, med. carb snack option soon after working out and see if it helps e.g. sweet potato, granola bar, egg and a piece of wheat toast.
Good luck0 -
Could exercise cause a drop in blood sugar? I hired a personal trainer last year to get started on a healthy path and she said to drink a half cup of strong coffee 10 to 15 minutes before working out and then to drink a high protein drink within 20 minutes of finishing. Coffee gets your heart rate up and is energizing, Protein drink - muscles are most receptive to protein right after exercise, and you will not feel hungry.
I drink Melaleuca ProFlex made with water for the protein drink, or Melaleuca Attain with Crave Blocker. When traveling, I may resort to an extra protein Ensure or Muscle Milk is it is a hassle to make a drink mix.0 -
interesting, I find that for me exercise suppresses my hunger.0
