feeling frustrated

I usually do 60-120 minutes of cardio a day. Yesterday my legs starting hurting really badly for the first time in a month! My knees kept buckling when I was on the elliptical and my quads feel like they are just about to rip away from my body. I got on the elliptical today and had to quit 15 minutes in. I still did 90 minutes of cardio but missed out on 30 more minutes I planned. Again my knees wouldnt hold me up and my thighs hurt so bad on top, I have been doing this daily for a month now, and never really felt like this before. What the heck is going on? And any clue how I might fix it?

You really don't need to be doing that much cardio anyway tbh.

Maybe a rest day (With lots of stretching), or go see a registered massage therapist they might be able to help relax that muscle, it seems to be very very tight.

I don't have the answer for you, but I can say, you seem really motivated! Good for you! Don't lose that passion--- However, you really need to focus on taking care of the body you are trying to get into shape. This means some down time and rest too. Have you had a chance to just recoup? I strongly suggest taking 1 whole day off and just baby yourself. Keep the calories right at your goal and don't go over. Have a nice long soak w/ Epsom salts, drink lots of water, eat a banana to bring the potassium level up a bit, keep your sodium low, and stay focused. Relax would be the key for you, just for a day. Then, I'd ease in to it the next day. Maybe instead of the elliptical, just go for a walk around your neighborhood for about 30-45min. Don't push yourself. A leisurely walk will burn calories too! Maybe work a little on your upper body, so do a few crunches and lift light weights with a lot of reps..soup cans will do just fine for that! Above all else, give the part of your body that needs the most rest the rest that it needs. Pushing yourself too hard will end up with you frustrated and wanting to quit because your body is quitting on you. Don't let that happen. You are here for a reason!! If for some reason this is more than your body just needing a bit of a break and this continues, please ask your dr his/her opinion. Take care, and best wishes on your weight loss journey!! <3

I couldn't have said it any better!
  • I guess rest it is then! Tomorrow is my off day from exercise but I wont be doing nothing, Im taking my three kids to the pumpkin patch so lots of walking, but nothing intense. I have to get at least 90 minutes of cardio in a day because the dr told me I need to do so. i need to strengthen my heart and lungs. Plus I have an entire obese person's worth of weight to lose.

Your doc told you you need to do 90 minutes of cardio... a day?? What kind of doctor is he? Was that a blanket statement or is he a sports medicine guy and has a plan for you?
Do you have a plan or are you just gonna run?
    And what about your nutrition?
