Do you have people living with you that will leave and come back with a whole pie/cake? I mean i love pumpkin pie, but when they bring it home and hope that u will have a few slices before it goes bad..im like uh...? even if i have a ton of calories left, ill have a slice..and they give you that saying and it can be true.."how often do you get to have a slice of pie?"

I feel your pain. my mom recently brought home four boxes of oreos, a package of klondike bars, some chips and goldfish. I'm living in hell.

None of my friends or family eat the way that I've started to eat (by cutting out a lot of processed foods).... sooo yeah I deal with it all day everyday.

If you want pumpkin pie but don't have a lot of calories, make a pumpkin shake. Crush a few cubes of ice, and add half a cup of pumpkin, half a cup of whatever milk you drink, 1 Tbs honey, some pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. Tastes just like a pie. But I totally feel where you're coming from. My mom made giant cinnamon rolls the other day and they've been the death of me. I hate living with people. I enjoy being totally in charge of what's in my kitchen.

I've countered by keeping a secret stash of things like kashi TLC bars (trail mix and chocolate peanut are tasty), as well as some other goodies around. Then if they try to insist, I tell them that my stomach has been acting up and I can't seem to eat anything heavy. I figure its a white lie :)
  • your answer to the pie question is : I have made the decision to change my life by choosing to eat healtier. I would appreciate that, if you want to eat pie, that you do not offer me a slice or leave it in my house.

To the woman who's mother brought home all that crap? You and your mom need to figure out why she feels the need to saboutage you in your efforts to eat healthy and or cause your kids to be unhealthy and overweight.

    just my 2 cents.

The simple answer is "no thank you". Or plan for it & exercise to earn the calories. My husband eats tons of candy every nite and I buy sweet treats for my kids once in a while. I also buy things that are just for me and I plan for them and enjoy them. There is always going to be junk that you can't "afford" to eat, whether it's at home, at work, out to lunch with friends who order high cal food and desserts. You have to learn how to handle it if you are going to keep up with a healthy lifestyle even after you are at your goal or you will just gain it all back. You can't think that everyone is out to sabotage you or that no one should ever bring tempting foods around you. Each person is in charge of their own choices. Be polite and firmly decline and they will get the message. If it's something you reaaaaallly want, have a sliver today and save another one for tomorrow. Or make your own, lower calorie version of pumpkin pie, etc. You can do this...you just have to WANT it!
