My knee is clicking on every pedal of the bike and cross trainer, then it gets sore.

It's not to bad walking but hurts running.

Any ideas boys and girls?

Tendinitis and/or bone spurs. You should get it checked by a doctor to make sure there isn't any tears in any of the tendons.
  • My knees and ankles click often, but I don't have much pain. I suppose I should get that checked out eventually.

is in knee therapy now. BOO! The doctor can't exactly figure out what's wrong other than there is most definitely something. The x-ray shows something ... cyst, bone chip, calcium???? The verdict is still out. We're trying a couple things in hope I don't have to have surgery. So far ... I'm thinking arthroscopic surgery is on its way as things don't seem to be getting too much better. He has me on a no walking/running regimen for a couple weeks to see if that helps. So far it isn't.

I'm getting restless. Swimming. He suggested swimming until I get the clear to run again.

For you, you might try RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation and see what that gets you.

You can't get an appointment here if you are dying in bed with a chest infection so I'd rather not bother them with a sore knee!

Would a knee support of some sort be any good? xx

Where do you live that you cannot see a doctor? You really should. Knees are important.

No. See a doctor or stay off the leg. If it hurts a joint, don't do it. Try rest for a week, no intentional exercise. No running, jumping, squats, or anything that works the leg. It is just a week and then you can reevaluate.

My elbows make a popping sound with each pushup and always have, but no pain. That is a different situation. You hurt. It can become worse rapidly

It's not that you can't see someone, it's just by me taking an appointment for something silly will delay someone else who has real problems getting an appointment. You ring up and say I've got tonsillitus, they say, how's two weeks friday?

    I'd just rather not :ohwell:

    It's fine at rest :)

Just waiting for it fall off when I'm on the bike hehe

I'll see how I go tomorrow at the gym. Had two days rest now so I'll see if that has helped xx

Honestly, although it can be a pain to see the doctor, you really should. If there is an underlying problem, you could really do some damage - and if you damage your knee of all things, it is something that can be a reoccuring problem for the rest of your life. It is better to be safe then sorry.

With exercising, if it hurts dont do it! Find a modification for the workout to relieve the pressure on your knee.

I hope it does get better soon!!

Knee problems aren't silly. It isn't like you are taking an appointment from a gunshot wound victim.

I'll see how I go. We don't tend to get gun shot wounds in this area. It's more fractured NOFs and UTIs :indifferent:

Also, they go to hospitals, I would think...
  • That really sucks. :[ Over the summer I torn my quad. It's really hard to stay healthy and lose weight when you have orders from a doctor to not do anything active. Personally it made me start to get lazy and eat a lot which is why I gained so much weight. Just don't lose sight of your weight loss goals! Be stern with your proportion sizes of food and what kind of nutrients are in the food you're eating. Hopefully your knee will heal up fast. In the meantime you can work out other parts of your body.

How is your knee when you try to squat? Painful when you get halfway down? It may be the muscle under your knee cap needs building up. Sit on a chair and stick your leg out in front of you so it is no longer supported by the chair, or lie on your back and stick your leg up at a 45 degree angle. Move your leg in a small circular motion 50 time clockwise and 50 times counterclockwise 3 times a day. You should feel the burn at first start doing this when you stop feeling it increase the amount of rotations to make sure the muscle is still working hard. Do this for at least a month - you should start to notice a difference in a week. Stay of the bike in the meantime it is the worst think you can do and try not to do anything to aggravate it - if you do STOP. Good Luck:wink:

this brings up a question i had. is it smart to stay away from impact type excercise/sports while you are considerably overweight? seems like running, tennis etc... would put a lot of stress on your ligaments and joints. better to stick with walking, swimming, weightlifting?

Yup, instead running brisk walking is good too.
Crossfit-weight lfting is the best way to go.

I just saw the Doctor today for my knee. Good news it will heal eventually. Bad news is I popped the fluid sack and it is getting kinda like a dry socket. I do wear a brace during the day off and on. I also am swimming and bike riding. The Doc said those were the best 2 exercises that you can do for your knee. Don't however take mine or anyone elses advice on here. I am not a doctor, and I recommend you see one. Your knee is not something you want to mess around with.

I'd be making the appointment for 'two weeks Friday' even if I didn't need it *now.* In 12 days, if it still sore I can cancel the Appt (we have a 24 hr cancellation policy). If I DIDN'T make the appt and in 15 days it blew out on me, I'd be totally stuffed.
