I don't know about pistachios but I do know walnuts have the highest content of omega fatty acids which are a good fat. Pistachios are eaten a lot in the Middle East so I would assume they have some good qualities but offhand I'm not sure.0

I would assume they will be a good source of fat, like almonds. But, I'm assuming.

When comparing isocalorically, veganism will not help you lose weight nor will being pro-nut. But you sholdn't let that stop you from doing either.0 -
:I think I read somewhere that they are good for "belly fat" but I don't know enough about macronutrients to understand how a food can "spot fix" anything. I don't remember where I read it, either, so I guess I'm not much help. :ohwell:
If you like them and they fit within your calorie range, I'd imagine they make a good snack either way.0 -
According to Dr. Oz pistacchios are a great option --- I personally prefer walnuts and almonds but they are all a good snack and fill you up.0

I did a bit of research about nuts not so long ago, because I wasn't so sure about them. My conclusion? pistachios get the first prize, closely followed by almonds (good thing about almonds: it's easier to get them raw and unsalted than with pistachios). Walnuts have more fat and less protein. Pecans are even "worse".
I'm not sure whether being vegan helps with weight loss... For sure you'll have to make an extra effort to get all the macronutrients (I'm a vegetarian and sometimes find that hard)
Hope that helps!0 -

I really don't want to be rude or anything.. but i sorta think that's the kind of question you should have ask yourself before turning vegan... Specially if you want to loose weight .. I see being vegan more like a lifestyle rather than a way to loose weight ...
As for nuts, they are high in calories because they are high in fat, good fat though, and your body needs fat... So yeah nuts in moderation are very good and nutrious... The best is to choose them raw.0 -
They are high in fat, but if you are vegan they are a protein source. Almonds and walnuts (I think) are high in omega3, but I also occasionally eat pistachios and macadamias. If you are like me, I like a variety of nuts. Look for the roasted without salt varieties to watch sodium levels. I also like grating or chopping them and adding them to things.0
