It has been about 6 mos for my wife and me. Although, we no longer consider it a diet. Its just the way we eat now. The way we eat and exercise have become a part of our daily routine.0

I am NOT on a diet. I have made a lifestyle change - eating healthier and getting some exercise. I started this journey in early December 2010. I started losing weight immediately because I was eating so much better AND on my treadmill 5 days a week. I lost 25 lbs in 90 days and a total of 36 lbs in 6 months. I have been maintaining for several months now.0

Think I am here 35 days now. Soon as I joined here in the week I noticed.ps notr a diet either just eating healthy and exercising.0

semantics, semantics. you'll probably get a lot of folks who *correct* your use of "diet" by explaining that its a lifestyle change. I agree that it needs to be a long term lifestyle change, but I understand your use of diet in your question and I'm okay with it. For me, I have been on this journey for exactly 9 months today. I noticed slow and steady weight loss throughout the process. I noticed material changes in my body at roughly each 20 pounds lost. I have lost 60 so far. Have about 17ish to go....but will reevaluate as I get closer to the goal.
in addition to weight loss, I have noticed significant improvement in my fitness level and cardiovascular health both from the healthy foods I'm eating and the exercise I'm doing. As my 160 pound friend said yesterday after a HIIT routine, I'm probably more fit than most people right now.0 -
I started in on this (whatever you wanna call it lol) properly about 50ish days ago now and I noticed within the first month definite changes.
There have been physical changes almost from within the first two weeks, people started to comment and I noticed my clothes were fitting better and now I'm noticing that I can walk away from foods (mainly, I still cave in totally, like with the lemon cupcake with sprinkles...) and that I'm not a slave to cravings anymore! (mainly )
How are you finding it?0 -

I still have to get it into my head that this is a lifestyle change. i think i should probably find a way to make this journey more enjoyable. STILL TRYING HARD!!!0 -
I have began my lifestyle change now one week ago. I already see changes. I work out everyday, and my eating has been pretty balanced, except for my one day food for all lol. I see my body starting to look different, and I feel different. I used to eat and be as stuffed as a thanksgiving turkey, and I hated it because I new I was beginning to look like one. Now that I have changed, even for a week, I feel completely different. I have more energy, and find my clothes fitting differently. Just shows how fast your body can react :drinker:0

I started dieting after college...15 years now. One fad diet after another...losing weight, gaining it all back when I couldn't maintain the crazy conditions...all fat, no fat., no sugar, all carbs, all fruit and veggies, grapefruit, cabbage soup, you get the idea.
About 3 years ago I was lucky enough offered sessions with a nutritionist, and this was the first time I saw the light, that this "diet" had to be one I I made for myself and could live with for the long haul. I lost 45 pounds slow and steady for the first 2 years. I was sick/injured over the holidays last year, fell into a funk and gained 32 pounds of the weight back in about 8 months. I still had more to learn.
I now have 22 pounds of it off over 4 months. I started back to weight watchers for the weekly meeting. I need and enjoy the face to face contact with weighing in weekly and for support (though I am amazed at the support I have found here as well, but I guess I am old fashioned yet enjoying both sources) I don't follow WW points system and do all of my tracking though this website. My nutritionist has been limited to 6 visits a year, and I still use and learn from the visits.
As far as your comment above about finding enjoyment with the journey...You must find this for yourself, and know it isn't going to occur today. Listen to yourself. Track EVERYTHING you eat and take notice on how your feel based on what you ingest, and find activities/choices you can live with. Don't beat yourself up if you mess up. Instead acknowledge and learn from it, and let it go and start again.
I will share what I have figured out for myself. Maybe you can take some of what I learned and apply it to yourself...maybe what I do will NOT work for you, which is why you must find what works for YOU. I have learned I must keep sodium between 1000-2000g daily and I must limit my simple sugar sources. (it has only taken me all 3 years to both figure this out and acknowledge it!) When I keep these in check...I do not crave food and have more energy. I have also found sprint triathlons as a great way to both focus workouts and add variety to my workouts (walk/run/cycling/swimming/weights). I finished my first one this month and plan at least 3 next year! I am STILL working on issues of food for rewards, special occasions etc...getting myself back on track quicker when I eat a sugar source causing me to crave food again, and not eating when I am anxious. Remember the journey is going to be a lifetime...no need to figure it all out now, take it one day at a time.0 -
I started in April and then fell of for a while. I've been sticking to the plan for 115 days now. I've lost 26 lbs and 4 inches from hips and waist. I am not on a diet. This is for life! The two biggest changes I have made is portion control and exercising!0

I started my weightloss journey September 25th 2009. Just a bit over 2 years.. and still am losing :bigsmile:0

I don't look at it as a diet but a lifestyle change. I started in April 2009. And I haven't looked back. However, over the course of the last year I have maintained my weight.
Looking to lose the last 15-20 or so and I'm not overly concerned with how long it takes me. I'm finally fit and like how I feel.0 -

3 months and it took 6 weeks to start seeing very significant changes. a month ago everyone I know really started noticing and daily I get comments.
have lost 18 pounds since September 1st and maybe 10+in the month or so before that.0 -
On and off all year, but only now have people started to notice, probably because I've had to buy smaller pants, my bottom is much smaller!
