Hey all!

I am running my first marathon in 2 weeks (NYC)... can anyone share tips with me about eating and drinking in these next two weeks? I am only working on maintaining my weight in these weeks leading up to the race so I don't deprive myself!

I'd really like tips about the days leading up to the race also. Eating suggestions, what to and what not to eat? I am cutting myself off from any beer, etc from now until race day when I FINISH!

Thanks!

I wouldn't change anything up! Just keep eating what you normally do.. and a good carb meal the night before that is easy on your stomach. Be drinking lots of water, and whatever flavored drink they're supplying on the course.. gatorade, powerade, etc. Good luck to you.. it will be amazing! :)

No processed food for at least 48 hours prior

No ridiculously sugary foods in the 24 hours before - Keeps your blood sugar regular.

Lots of carbs and protein the night before - I go for chicken and pasta usually.

At least 2 and a half litres of water the day prior

    On the morning:

Get up at least a couple of hours prior. Eat immediately, I vary mine and can never decide on one thing to have so I usually have 1 poached egg sandwich and a bowl of porridge. The porridge will have more energy in it.

Drink plenty of water and make sure you drink before you need it on the run.

    Have lots of fun! :)

The only thing I'd say is just don't let anything spike too high i.e. blood sugar levels because this will mess up your energy levels. You want to be calling on the most premium of energy in the race!
