Mad at myself...crappy week

I'm a HUGE FAILURE! I gained 2 pounds this past week. No analysis needed. It can be summed up like this:
1) I drank lots of soda. I am allowed ZERO!
2) I ate lots of candy. I am allowed ZERO!
3) I ate lots of fattening food that I did not log!
4) I did not exercise AT ALL!
5) I made bad food choices (eg fatty, salty, or both)!
Time to pull up my boot straps and work hard! I could be a father any day now and I do not want to be a fat one!

Don't be too hard on yourself! We all slip up here and there! Just climb back on the wagon!0

Good for you for realising what went wrong and knowing what you need to do.
You know you aren't a huge failure. You just had a bad week.0 -
Well you aren't a failure... you posted and you are pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and determined to be a good example for your children. Doesn't sound like a failure to me. Sounds more to me like a fighter! A failure would just lay down and stay there... You are coming with us! HA! We are not going to leave you behind!0

Join the club it looks like it is the week for bad choices. Quite a few of us seem to have done the same thing. Maybe it is the weather changing for Autumn and our bodies want us to put on fat for the winter
Don't be mad at yourself *kitten* happens I am sure you will pull it back.0 -
I think one of the biggest things here is accountability. You did it, you messed up - now just get over it and back on track. Don't let this slip up derail you for good.
You got this!0 -
This post "spoke" to me for two specific reasons: (1) You called yourself a "Huge Failure" and you're not! You had one bad week. Shake it off. You're here on MFP, so that's a positive, wonderful step. Most people don't even get that far. (2) Also, I do the same thing with respect to diet. I allow myself "zero" of certain foods, and then as soon as I tell myself I can't have them, I am inexplicably and uncontrollably drawn to them. No food is a "bad" food in moderation. Perhaps allowing yourself a little snack size treat here and there will keep you from raiding the cupboards?
Congrats on almost being a father! Wait until your little one arrives...your life will never be the same!0 -
yup we all slip up sometimes, get back on track this week and remember, everything in moderation. Your more likely to set yourself up for failure if you totally knock out the sweet things in life!0
-
Unless there's a proper medical reason, you are allowed soda and you're allowed candy - just IN MODERATION! Denying yourself the things you like will only make you resent your new eating patterns. Find space for little treats in your calorie allowance, and plan your exercise to accommodate them.0

know how your a feeling... had a bad week myself too!! went out sat got pissed and yesterday couldnt stop eating crap!! havnt weighted in yet but il be lucky if I dont gain as well!!
But im just gonna have ta work my *kitten* off at karate tonight!!0 -
Oh haiii human It's all okay dude, it's not like you messed up and just threw in the towel. You realized you let yourself slack last week and are back here posting, and I'm assuming getting back on track. We're all only human, and unless all the yummy food and drinks disappear completely off the Earth, i think we're all going to be giving into temptation at points in our lives, it's what we do to make up for it that keeps us going in the right direction. Good luck, you can do it! And congrats on the little one!0

There IS a proper medical reason. I am a post op from bariatric surgery. My doc says NO LIQUID CALORIES!0 -
You will be fine.. the first step is to realize the mistakes you did and good enough you already know... so this week go for it like never before!!! Dont be discouraged...

if you dont allow yourself any sweets or fizzy drinks, maybe that why you crave them more?
i find i can say no to chocolate the majority of the time, because i have a small amount which fits into my calories as a treat.0 -
Sorry you feel so bad. But feeling bad and calling yourself a failure doesn't accomplish anything. You've confessed it, gotten it out of your system, now pick back up and keep going! We're all going to fall once in a while; if anyone on here tells you they never mess up and eat something they shouldn't, they are probably lying! But it's in the past now and there's nothing you can do to change it, so let it go and move forward. Maybe spend a couple minutes figuring out why you did it so you can learn from the mistake. Are you nervous about being a dad? When my nerves kick in, I eat. So maybe that's what prompted this little slip-up for you. If that's the case, find another outlet for your nerves...go for a walk, put together some of the baby's furniture, sit and talk to your baby (may seem silly, but they say babies recognize voices from while they were in the womb!), etc.
Good luck...you're doing fine. Don't let one slip-up rattle you. You can do this!
EDITED TO ADD: Be sure to post pics of your new little one when he or she arrives! Praying for a safe delivery for your wife and baby!0 -
