SuperSized me needs to go

At 36 with wife and three young children ages 8, 6, and 3 I need to change my lifestyle to be able to play with my kids and be around for them a long time.
305 lbs is the heaviest I've ever been.
I'd love to get down to about 220 (200 would be fantastic) and need some help doing it. My wife is with me on this and supports me as a wife can.
Small steps at first, 3-5 lbs per week for the first month. I believe this is doable as I don't think the weight is supposed to be there. I have an easy time with the first 20 or so lbs, as I start eating better and exercising it melts off. After that the battle really begins, can I stay away from chips, soda, fast food, etc.....for a LONG LONG time.....
If you think you can help, I will take all the advice and support I can get.
If your local, hit me up we can walk, exercise, something....
THANKS!!!
Steve

Hi Steve. Welcome. Maybe set very small short term goals for long term rewards. I started out with a goal only to lose 1 lb per week in June 2011. As of October 19th, I had lost 38 lbs. I did lose a lot at first, which was great, but then I hit the eventual plateau. But on average, I lost about 8 to 9 lbs each month. I did this with MFP by tracking my calories in and calories burned. The nice thing is that I really didn't deny myself too much and I've learned to enjoy excercising. If you are not physically active yet, then start off just walking several days a week. Start offf with just small distances and then eventually increase your walk. When you are healthier and stronger, then opt for other activities to expand your workout. Also, don't forget to log your time playing with the kids (catch, basketball, just goofing around. . .)
Now, I have just recently had WLS, so I'm starting to shed 1 to 2 pounds each day, but that will surely decrease and I will remain on my low calorie, moderate exercise plan throughout the rest of my life. You are young, you have time to take this process slow. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Good for you for letting Mr. SuperSized you go.
Good luck. Add me if you like0 -
You CAN do it. Just remember if you fall off the wagon to get back on again. Remember that your life, wife, children and health are more important than any food.0

Good luck, keep moving forward. Tattooine can be a tough place to get a good walk in safely, with all the Sand People lurking and all.0

Hello, I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Mary I live in Jville and am scheduled to have a tummy tuck on December 20, 2011. I would love to be down 25 to 30 lbs before D-day. So I started writing my food down today. I actually love to workout but unfortunately I love to eat as well so prayerfully I will accomplish my goal. And so it begins!!!!0
