I started dieting and exercising in July because my doctor told me I was diabetic. Then a friend told me about myfitnesspal.com and I started logging my food and exercise. I consistantly lost weight for about 3 months - 34 lbs. Then I hit a wall and have gained back 2 lbs over the past 4 weeks. I'm not doing anything different and I'm getting quite discouraged! Help?

I have read that you need to CHANGE what you are doing. If you are just walking to loose weight, change your exercise, maybe since winter is coming add indoor swimming. Dont forget to do weights for toning and shaping. I also heard that you need to change what you are eating, and maybe eat more. Maybe you need to adjust your goals in MFP. Hope your doctor is pleased with your progress and your diabetes is under control!!! Iand You are doing an amazing job, keep it up.

Try eating more calories some days and less others- your body adapts quickly to a caloric intake, so switch it up to kick your metabolism into gear. Switch up your workouts as well; you burn less as you do a workout repeatedly because your body gets used to doing it. Feel free to add me for support and message me with any questions!

I have been at a plateau for about 4 weeks. Drives me crazy but I have to keep in mind that sooner or later I will break it. It just kind of gives me more of a challenge. I am trying some different things so hopefully that works and have upped my calories some because I was eating to little calories.
@ Caroline81 thanks for the website.
  • You might also want to start tracking measurements instead of (or along with) your weight. Now that you are getting in better shape (and probably working out harder) you are undoubtedly putting on muscle.
