Is 5 lbs a big difference in your goal weight?

Hi there!

I am currently feeling really good about my progress and where it is heading. I am 5'4.75'' so 5'5'' pretty much and at 139. My goal weight is 130, but since I am somewhere between 24% and 26% body fat, am thinking 125 might be a good ultimate goal.

Has anyone who is near my numbers or not, seen a noticeable difference in reaching their goal weight and then going 5 lbs below? Can it make the difference between abs and no abs?

A little specific, but anyone's story or input would be nice.

Thank you!
:-)

  • I'm 5'5". My goal was 135, but once I hit it I decided to go down to 125. I really do notice a difference. But I was thin at 135, I'm just more toned at 125. I especially noticed it in my face, but since people lose weight differently it could show up different for you. I am happy I lost those extra 10 lbs. It took me A LOT longer to lose them than it took me to lose my initial weight.

I havent reached my goal yet but my goal is 139 and then i will re evaluate and see if im looking at 135 or 130 or what. I'm 5'2 153 lbs right now and i'm already fitting into my old size 4 jeans so i'm not sure how low i want to go so i'm interested to hear what people have to say. 139 for sure is a must!

no- I am not so small nor will I ever be that 5 lbs will make much diff. I give myself 3-5 lb leeway on any weigh in. just means my jeans fit a little better is all

Personally, for me yes. I am 5'5. I was at 129 for a very long time. I am now down to 124. I see a difference & it's also a mental bonus, I feel like I accomplished my goal. But, now, I am looking to loose another 4!
  • I think for a lighter person, a few pounds do make a big difference. Whether 5 lbs will be the difference between abs and no abs depends on your diet and workout routine.
  • You will definitely notice a 5-lb difference between 130 and 125. Not only in your clothes, but it should be visible to you as well.

Kimberlygo - thanks so much! exactly what I was looking for. Congratulations on your achievement! I hope to be there one day, yes, I think I would be more toned at 125, then at 130 - I'm sure it will take a while longer to get there. :-)

Go dreamgurl! I couldn't even imagine being in a size 4 jean! lol. I have always been pretty muscular and had some hips/butt so at 125, I will probably only see a 7! Congrats!

Ibetancourt - with you and Kimberlygo I think I'm convinced to change my goal! I'm really looking to lose BF% rather than weight, so I think 125 will be my stopping point, everyone's make-up is different, but if you are exploring to go lower and look/feel good, then it could be a possibility for me as well. ;-)
