So today at work an older man I work with came up to my desk and chatted with me like he often does. He is known for saying WHATEVER pops into his head so I kind of always have my guard up with him. Well today he leans in to me like he's going to tell me a secret but quite loudly tells me "You're pants are baggy!! You probably shouldn't wear them anymore!" Yeah...I'm aware of that. LOL They're not terrible and I can't bring myself to spend the money on new clothes until they are completely un-wearable! I'm taking that as an off handed compliment.

    :-)
    Definitely a compliment.
I was in the same boat as I was losing weight.....didn't want to buy too many new clothes until I was at the weight I wanted to be. Shopping at Goodwill became something I did on a regular basis. You can sometimes even find brand new items there.
Good luck on the rest of your journey!

Speaking as an older man myself, I'd be more than willing to bet that he meant that as a compliment.
  • I would so take that as a compliment..LOL
The same thing happened to me but it was my husband that insisted that I 'retire' my pants because they were so baggy that they did not flatter my new shrining figure. I found that finding a really good second hand store or consignment shop is the best way to go because they will sometimes give you credit for bringing clothes in to trade on smaller sizes! Congrats...

lol. Ole Man! SMH. I feel you though. My clothes are starting to get a little baggy. Not too many ppl have noticed, but it's great to hear when someone does.

I think it's great when someone notices, no matter how goofy the compliment! I'm another one having success on MFP and wondering how long I can wear my current wardrobe of pants before they look ridiculous. The ones without belt loops are just about unwearable, but I'm going to keep cinching a belt around the ones with loops as long as I can. I wouldn't mind going out and buying a whole new pants wardrobe, but I don't want to have to do it more than once.

I know completely what you mean about buying new clothes- I FINALLY went to a consignment shop here in town and found me 3 pairs of dress pants that I can wear to work that ACTUALLY FIT :drinker:

I only spet like 8 bucks apiece on them so I was okay with that!

Congrats on your weight loss!!! Keep up the good work!
