Is there an equation or something to calculate body fat without using a machine? I haven't got access to one but would like to have a little estimate of what mine is.
I'm very wobbly :grumble:

Just read another post on this and there was a link to a US Navy calculator, not sure where I found that post though....maybe google the calculator?0

I'm not sure you can measure it without a machine or calipers.0

There are several ways, one using a tape measure, and another using cheap plastic calipers. They are all over the Internet. The best tape measure is that which you can bring around ,hook it into a recepticle and it will auto close firmly around you. I bought my calipers for under $5 on that website that sounds like a river in South America. I got that there for only a couple bucks more.0

I'd love to be able to calculate my body fat too. The online calculators all seems way off as I'm 5ft 1, 125ish pounds and they all have me as obese. I could lose a couple more pounds but I am certainly not obese. Almost ordered a scale that's supposed to calculate your body fat but not sure if it's accurate enough to be worth spending the money on.0

I found this website. You plug in your info and it calculates it for you. Not sure how accurate it is but it is pretty close to what they told me mine was.

If you googe US Navy measure body fat you get a web page you input the info requested (height, neck, waist and hips) and it calculates your body fat. I also havebody fat scales and the two figures pretty much tally up in about 0.5% of a difference between the two. Hope that helps. x0

Wow. Lots of ideas.
I'll check out the navy one in a sec, need to measure my neck first (which seems like such a random measurement  ), I didn't think people measured their neck unless they were buying a tux.
Thanks guys.0 -
