I was going to make this but realized I only have baking soda. I went to the closest store and they don't have baking powder either!
Is there any way I could omit that ingredient from the recipe?

its a long shot but if you have cream of tartar you can add it to baking soda to make baking powder.
Sounds crazy but it works!0 -
I googled it. Got this answer:
Making Baking Powder
•You need baking soda and cream of tartar to make baking powder.
•Mix 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda. For example, mix 2 tsp cream of tartar with 1 tsp baking soda.
•Use the amount of baking powder called for by the recipe. No matter how much homemade baking powder you made, if the recipe calls for 1-1/2 tsp, add exactly 1-1/2 tsp of your mixture.0 -
Baking Powder (1 tsp.) substitution - 1/4 tsp. baking soda + 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar0
