Hey all.
So, this morning I woke up to like, a billion feet of snow (okay, more like A foot), and had to stop at a gas station to re-wipe off my car. I went in to get something for breakfast, grabbed a Special K Bar, and then decided that a cold day like this deserved a nice latte, So I grabbed a Large cup, Filled it up with coffee and that Vanilla creme syrup and was on my way.

After taking a few sips of it, I realized what I had done. I had filled a 24 oz cup up with Sugar and fat! So I took one last sip, then poured it out. I logged the amount I did drink (only around 6oz) and took that as good enough.

It's a small step, and not going to make a huge difference in the long run, but I am proud of myself. I didn't chug down those 24 oz like I normally would, and now I know that I don't need a sweet drink on a cold day.

It absolutely makes a huge difference in the long run. Look at what you just did! You made a conscious decision to throw out the fat, the sugar, and the crap, because you are changing your life. That sounds like a huge difference to me!
  • Way to go! I cut out sugary coffee a while ago (I still get plain lattes about once a week and add a teaspoon of honey to sweeten), but man, those sweet coffee drinks were the hardest habit to break. Good for you!

awesome! that is hard to do. I always get the small cup now. In fact one day I was so looking forward to a frozen cappuccino...so glad I got the small because it really was NOT as good as I remembered (especially after I looked up the stats on it).

I've started measuring out my creamer for coffee in the morning b/c each tablespoon has around 40 calories! YIKES! Changing your daily habits WILL make a difference in the long run!

When I have a craving for something sweet and hot to drink, I get herbal tea. I add a little Splenda and sometimes, as a treat, a little skim milk. Yummy. Especially watch for Celestial Seasonings' Christmas flavors. My two favorites are Candy Cane Lane and Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride...DELICIOUS. Really allows me to treat myself without all the fat and sugar.

Kudos to you for throwing out something you know was bad for you! Isn't it nice when we realize we don't truly NEED that stuff?

    Ooooh. Yum!
I LOVE Tea lattes at Starbucks, and have a milk steamer, So I might start making a cup of steamed milk and tea. I bet those flavors would be a yummy treat with this!

This IS impressive. I HATE the winter and hot drinks are such a temptation...nice NSV. Stay warm up there!

When you are ready to cave in to the coffe treats - try hazelnut flavored (in the roast no with the syrup). Add a bit of skim milk & a sweetener (splenda/sweet n lo/ etc) Same great taste - not loads of calories & you are getting a little calcium with the milk. One of my favorites is Panera Hazelnut coffee. And they even have a fireplace!! Enjoy ;D
