Ok on MFP it says a 25mls of Rum is 52 calories; now I would assume that is a shot; but I'm not sure. Is this true or am I way off???

    That converts to .85 fl oz. So...not quite a shot. (I assume a standard shot is 1 oz) ?

    A shot, I believe, is an ounce. Which equals about 70 cal. I also love rum! ...stupid calories =)

    a shot is 1 ounce so it is a little less than a shot. I think a shot of Bacardi is around 60 calories?

    I love rum and don't mind the calories in my count (everyone is right about it not quite being a shot) but the mixers get me! So I started making my own gingerale for my fave drink, a dark and stormy. I blend a bunch of ginger, boil it in water with a little honey, strain and add lemon juice. Voila! low cal ginger ale, just mix with seltzer.

    Just remember that alcohol also interferes with your digestion and metabolism of fat and carbohydrates. When you drink, your body makes metabolizing the alcohol a priority and stores everything else as fat. I know for me, whenever I have alcohol, it seems like my weight loss grinds to a halt for that whole week. I save it for special occasions.

    I know a shot is usually referring to an oz. - but be careful - many shot glasses are 1.5 oz or more.
