Does anyone else think the fat grams recomended by MFP is high.

wow - I have never eaten 40 grams of fat on a 1,200 calorie diet. I know some fat is good for you but still 40 grams seems like a lot to me.0

Actually a lot of it is good for you. take you body weight time .35 and that should be the minimum you get every day. minimum.

This is where eating right is very essential.
Eat foods high in the "polyunsaturated" fats, then monounsaturated fats. Stay away from the trans fat for sure, and try to keep saturated fat grams to a minimum. Due note that Omega 3 and 6 are also fats, and these fats actually help make your blood platelets less sticky, helping to prevent artery clogs. Fat is very important for you: it makes up your cell membranes, its used as a fuel source when you are not doing any strenuous activity, and it cushions your joints!
Once again, eat fat, but the right fats. This will lead to a healthier you!
Of your daily needs here is a breakdown to make sure you are doing it "right"
Total Fat 35%
of this fat, make sure you are sticking to these guidelines:
Saturated Fat <10%
Monounsaturated Fat <13%
Omega n6 Polyunsaturated Fat 6.5%
Omega n3 Polyunsaturated Fat .5g-1g
Trans Fatty Acids <2%
Polyunsaturated - optimum 25% of the total fat, but realistically would be around the 10-15% mark0
