Fatigue after morning workout

Hey everyone

So a morning workout is suppose to energize your day right? Not for me

This morning I did a class, which I was pretty easy on myself with since it was my first time doing it, then a slow flow yoga class after to stretch and relax. Total of 2 hrs. If this was 2 hrs of intense exercise, I'd understand my fatigue....but it wasn't. And I'm at work now, and I'm exhausted! I ate a pretty balanced meal for lunch afterwards, and had a decent breakfast pre-workout....so I'm not sure what's wrong :(

Does anyone else experience this kind of fatigue after an AM workout?

The one time I did a class in the morning before work, I took at yoga class at 6 am. When I got to work, I actually fell asleep during the morning break. (literally asleep at my desk for the entire 15 minutes :blushing: )

I don't know what that happened to me either, because I also thought exercise was supposed to give a jolt. It might be that since you are just chaning your schedule your body has to get used to getting up earlier and being active that early. Sadly, I didn't give my body the time to adjust and went back to working out after work.

Stick with it for a week or two and see if it gets any better...then let me know!

How much sleep are you getting at night? I know I need at least 7 hours to feel like my workouts have energized me. Otherwise I feel like I'm dragging.

I have also felt fatigued doing morning exercise. So I usually do heavy exercise at night for this reason. If I do anything in the AM it is usually walking.

I do yoga also and I can tell you that 2 hours of yoga is an intense exercise! Your heart rate isn't as elevated as with a cardio exercise, but your muscles are certainly working overtime.

I do 10-20 min of yoga in the morning, and I feel great afterward. I save the longer sessions for after work or the weekends.
  • yes, morning workouts also kill me. I can get through work but on my days off like today i just want to lay around afterwards which would leave me with a wasted weekend. I don't have a good answer but I know how you feel. It may be that some of us are night people and some of us are morning people, like when i was in school i always studied better at night. Shrug

katie1376 - last night I had 6...i woke up naturally though. i didn't have to get myself up for the workout because I was already up well before it. I usually get 7-13 (yes! 13 hrs on days where i don't have to be at work until a bit later - i work afternoons). I don't really have a happy amount of sleep like that though. Seems like no matter how little, adequate, or excessive sleep i get, I'm still tired. I work in a medical laboratory and I've tested EVERYTHING, and everything is good...so I dunno what it is :S

ivykivy - i wish i could do PM workouts, but I work afternoons. Can't make it to the gym at midnight because that one hour before i go to bed at night is the only time my bf and i get to see each other :( that and I'd be revved when I went to bed since I go to bed around 1 AM. I wish though.

fitnessgeek- it was only 1 hr of slow flow yoga. yes, i was sweating, probalby more than i was with the cardio class i did before that, lol

miasuperstar - yeah...tbh, i have no clue whether i'm a morning or night person...i'm kinda forced into the "night" person lifestyle because i work afternoons

Dlhigh - LMAO! I'm pretty sure I don't have the willpower to workout with a hangover.
