By the sound of it, I want one too. Where can I get one and how much does it cost? I live in Saint Paul, MN.

heart rate monitor
I have the Polar F6....love it0 -
You have a strap around your chest and a watch which picks up your HR (heart rate)
You program it with YOUR specifics and it tells you how many calories you burn during a workout. I would be lost with out mine.
F6 is about $99 but I have seen ppl get one for less with a sale or Ebay.
Good luck!0 -
You can buy them at any Target around St. Paul, but I would suggest buying on online, because they are better quality than the ones in the stores. I got mine on super sale a buy.com for 29.99 (free shipping too!). I use the Reebok Precision XT and I love it.0

I have the Polar F4 and I love it, too! You can get them at any sporting goods store. I got mine at a Sports Authority. I was torn between the F4 and tha F6, a $20 difference. I'm happy with my decision.0

I have the Timex 30 Lap Ironman Triathlon... I bought it at Big 5 Sporting goods for $40 with an 8 dollar Rebate... one I figured out how to use it I love it! Definately helps with the accuracy of logging in your exercise calories burned... most everything (gym machines, Wii Games are wrong because they don't take in account of your specifics.. weight and some days your body will burn more calories doing the same thing that in the future you will burn less doing...) Good Luck:drinker:0

I have had no issues with my F6. I could have gone F4 though because the computer doesnt sync up with it so i dont use that at all.
Make sure what ever you buy shows Heart Rate AND Calories Burned. Also check that it has you input YOUR info so it is specific to you.
I bought the F6 based totally on the info here-I figured if everyoen loved the Polar product.........
Today I burned 705 calories!! WOOT WOOT!!0 -

How what did you do to burn that many calories? So far all I did was 30 minutes of Yoga and burned 207 calories... I went shopping after that but didn't wear my hrm for that... lol0 -
The epulse that I was looking at just straps around your forearm and has no chest strap. I think I like this one. Anyone have one?0

Well I went to the gym with a crazy friend:laugh: Alone I would have done my 45 min on the treadmill and gone home (approx 200-250 cals) BUT my bud was with me so we were there for 2 hours! 45 min on treadmill, but competing with her! Arms, legs and abs. Stretching, squats and lunges.
All and all a very great day!
Normally I burn around 300-400 with cardio and upper or lower weight training.0 -
Thank you for the information. The strap that you wear around your heart, is that comfortable or noticeable? Is this something you can wear to work under your clothes?0

I have the F6 - had a Timex but found it wasn't accurate. You need a HRM that not only records your weight but also your size, age, etc. to get a truly accurate calorie count. The difference between the two was about 400 cals each 3-hour exercise session!!!
The chest strap is fine, imo. I wear it just under my bottom bra strap. Bra strap helps hold it there, as well, and since I'm used to the strap being there anyway, no difference with the chest strap. It's not noticeable at all.
I'd heard the arm/wrist HRMs weren't as accurate. I bought mine direct from the company and it was about $100.0 -
I also have the Polar, and it's not even noticeable. I always wear it under a sports bra for yoga, and Zumba, etc and forget it is there. The sports bra might not be necessary, but it makes me feel more comfy...Good Luck!
PS Zumba, 500 calories burned, less than an hour! woo hoo!0
