Just a question - Excess skin?

I haven't quite lost enough for this to be a problem, but I couldn't help wondering about it, seeing as it's pretty much inevitable. Has anyone here lost enough weight for excess skin to be a problem? How bad is it?

I'm thinking that if I lose the weight I hope to lose... I'll need to get some health insurance and get surgery to remove the skin. Ugh... Oh well. Being thin is worth a bit of surgery I suppose. :grumble:

you should not have excess skin if you loose it right by eating right and lots of exercise.:flowerforyou:
Do toning exercises. Lift light weights.

    ya right.

I've lost slowly, the RIGHT way, and yes I have excess skin. It's not REALLY bad or anything, but it's there, especially along my inner thighs and upper arms. It is also slowly getting better- maybe it a couple of years it won't be there at all. Try not to think about it until you have to- you may not end up with much or any at all!

I lost it the *right* way, too, and I have a skin problem.

Like Kerri, mine is the worst on my inner thighs and upper arms. It's also loose around my stomach.

I'm not pleased with it, but I know it's better to have skin than fat. I'm hoping it will shrink back over time.

Six years ago I lost over 100 pounds. I was 39 at the time and, granted, I have oily skin - which tends to be more elastic. My excess skin is not all that bad. Ideally, I would love to have a tummy tuck and boob lift but there's a pic of me in my photos in a bikini and you can see that it's fairly easy to hide the skin.

It's subjective, but there's hope that it'll be fine without surgery!

You girls need to take it from me - lose it while you're young!!!!!!!!!!
That's the answer. Your skin will shrink up, stretch marks will fade, but not if you wait as long as I did.

    It's disgusting!

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize, and massage those areas. Your skin should gain some elasticity back.

I just looked at your pics, is that you in the pink?? It can't be, cause that person looks much older than you, seriously, that can't be a before pic, I don't believe it!

I have lost 65 of the 165 I need to lose and I have quite a bit of excess skin. I have been losing slowly. That 65 is over 2 years. I think I am probably going to need surgery. In my opinion, everyone is different. You may need it, you may not. I hate to say just wait and see but that's what I am doing.
I complained to a lady at the gym and she said ' You should be proud, at least that skin isn't full of fat.'
Good luck, I have faith you will be like many of those other laides and be tight and thin.

Oh, I am so pleased that someone asked this, because I was afraid to.
    Thank you! :D

Even being young? This is just a reality? I guess if it looks really bad I can just get fat again.

everyone's different- I'm 24 and yes- saggage. But I've seen others lose more than I have with no excess skin at all. Everyone is different but it's pretty safe to assume if you'r elooking to lose 100+ lbs there's gonna be some sag. Doesn't mean it'll be extreme though and certainly if it's a huge issue you can have it surgically corrected.

I figure the extra skin will come in handy when it's time to have babies!
