i LOVE ketchup too and put it on EVERYTHING! But it has A LOT of SALT in it!! the lycopene in the tomatoes is really good for you, but it is the salt.

BUT dont worry! Heinz makes a NO SALT ADDED version and it isnt bad actually. i buy it now all the time. it's a little thinner but i am used to it now.

Hunt's makes a ketchup with no high-fructose corn syrup ... says it in BIG letters on the front of the squeeze bottle.

I use it too but always measure it as it is easy to add more than you think you are - Log the cals and factor them into your day...

In my view nothing (well almost nothing) should be out of bounds so long as you make it fit your cals for that day - this is about lifestyle choices if it is going to work long term not denial and feeling cheated....

I like this comment, especially written by someone who has already lost a lot of weight, gives me faith that by letting myself have a weekly treat of chocolate (within my calories) isn't going to undo the healthier choices I am trying to make the rest of the week.

Well, this should make you feel even better . . . I have lost 60+ pounds and I eat chocolate just about every day ;)

Same here. I still have my chocolate/crisps etc daily, log them, watch my calories, exercise, and it's working great for me!

Ketchup wise, i use the Sainsburys Reduced Sugar and Salt. tastes exactly like the normal stuff.

It's not empty calories if it has one vital nutrient! TASTE! :D

I buy this one, and the spicy ketchup. High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is in almost everything. I believe it's part of the obesity rise along with bigger portions, sedentary lifestyle, and processed food. Season with spices first, (not salt) then a little salt (Kosher / sea salt), other zero calorie flavorings (hot sauce, mustard, etc) then one's with calories (ketchup, ranch, etc.)
