Does anyone work out during their lunch break? What if you don't have access to a gym? What are your strategies and how do you get it accomplished?

Seems like that 30-60 minutes could be utilized so much better than chowing down on food...that can be done at your desk =)

Thanks, look forward to some awesome ideas and inspiration!

I take a 35 min. walk at a fast pace. Seems to work well for me.
  • Well, I have a gym at my office so I usually work out there. Otherwise, if your building has stairs, you can walk or run up and down the flights of stairs! That's an AMAZING workout that burns serious calories! Also, you could just go for a walk. A little activity can go a long way!

I bought a mini stepper machine and have it here in my office. I jump on it at least three times a day and manage to get at least 40-45 minutes on it a day. However, if you don't have an office, this exercise could be a little embarrassing, lol. Other alternatives would be a power walk in the area around your work or walking up stairs (take the elevator down so you don't injur your knees!).

I have always utilized my lunches for workouts.. I don't do it every day but I am not a stranger to it. When I worked in Solana Beach I would throw on my workout clothes and walk all around that beautiful city and I would walk the gorgeous beach.. I really miss that. Now I have an office gym and I do 35 minutes on the elliptical... It takes time to change in and out of my clothes and to cool off so I only do 35 minutes. My walks used to take me 45 minutes :) I work in a business park and I have a huge window that over looks the street.. I see people walking every day!! They power walk the hills around this place liek no other!!! Good luck! No excuses!! :)

I keep a resistance band in my desk - lightweight & portable. About.com has tons of resistance band exercises - lots of options sitting & standing.

I also pop in a walking DVD (when the weather is bad). I can close my door - not sure if this is an option for you. To see if walking videos would work for you - there are a couple of free ones on exercisetv.tv.com. The freebies are called Start! Walking 2 Miles & Cardio Slimdown. I like that the videos are so simple - I can use my own music (MP3 player).
  • I take a 25-30 min walk on a trail that goes around the office campus at a brisk pace. There are a few hills about a story high that add some resistance. Two times is about 1.40 miles so it's a decent workout if I go fast enough. Unfortunately the trail doesn't get shoveled in winter.
  • When it's warm enough outside, and I stay in for lunch, I like to eat then go for a walk/power walk. With that kind of time 30-60 mins you should have enough time to eat and have a decent walk. Beside the excerising part of that, it also clears my mind some and revives me to help make it thru the afternoon. Good luck and nice website/blog, hoping to try some of the recipes....glad your pups okay too!
