hello all,

i take very strong water tablets for my heart, im in heart failure, if i drink too much i get really bad water retention like most people but mines very bad at times.been admitted to hospital many of times on regular basics. i have been advised my my consultant to only drink a litre of fluid a day including liquid in soups, milk in cereals and teas. etc
my question is if im not drinking enough water will i still loose weight??? because i have been drinking way over 1 litre getting on to 3 litres and im starting to retain it all again. no good for my health's point. but i dont also want to stop loosing weight. help please. how much water do you really need to loose weight?

Given your medical conditions you really need to consult your doctor on this and not pay any attention to the comments you are about to receive here. Cheers! and good luck!

I think it would be a mistake for anyone to give you advice on this via message board. You have a serious issue and you should not be following our advice... I really urge you to speak to your doctor or nutritionist.

I'm not a doctor, but I play one on MFP...

Seriously, don't ask strangers on the internetz.

^^this. Consult your doctor about your diet re: your fluid intake, diet, weight loss, all of it.

You do not 'need' water to lose weight, well outside of needing water to live. If you are in heart failure as you say then you should definitely check with your consultant as to whether or not they think it is suitable for you to be losing weight at this time.
