I'm talking exercise buddy really.

What to do when your buddy can't seem to find the time and cancels etc?

Should you just go with it and exercise alone or get on their case and make them?

If you have any thoughts I'd be happy to hear them, including any ideas on how to be a good buddy on here.

:D

    Yes please!

My friend has been trying to get me to join a gym with her - and we finally did 3 or 4 weeks ago,
but I think she has cancelled on about half the classes in that time (5 a week are on the schedual)

I worry because the gym thing was more for her than me, and I know she needs motivation, but how?
  • Hmmm.... Well I think you should still give it a go because in the end it's them that's missing out. I know it's hard to get motivated when someone pikes on you but you can do it! Good luck :D

Sure, keep hassling them to come with you, but don't use their failure to stick to it as an excuse not to go yourself. It's nice to have an exercise buddy, but you can do it by yourself too.

Keep on at them but in a nice way. My sister has just convinced me to go to the gym with her, we've set our goals for the next 6 weeks and are starting on Sunday (My sister is a member and she is giving me her guest passes, which is a bonus as it's free for me :) ) I'm actually really looking forward to it.
When are you next meant to be going? Maybe pin her down to a few days and get her to have a back up day as well in case she cancels. Or perhaps text her half an hour before you go (if she's cancelled) and say 'I'm still going to the gym, are you sure you don't want to join me?' just to keep the idea of going at the front of her mind. And don't let her cancel without making another gym date!
    Good luck :)

    tough one.

depends on their reason really. If you know it's BS, be patient but persistent. If it's one of those "I'm at work whenever the blackberry buzzes" situations, not much you can do.

Most of the time I'm doing it by myself; my ex-colleague persuaded me to join the fitness club but we went to different classes. But I made a few friends there.

Besides, I'm the fattest among my friends. So, only I need to do exercise :P
